    Great progress, keep it up!
    One tip: Study facial anatomy. It sounds crazy, but eyes are pretty much right in the middle of the face, where you draw them 3/4 of the way up. Also, eyes, on average, are only one eye's width apart from one another. But when you do giganto japanese animation style eyes, you might want to consider making an exception to that rule, and place them closer in the name of aesthetics. Or you could draw regular looking eyes, diversifying never hurts!

    You subject matter is mostly static. Can you do an action scene?

    If you're still having troubles with your monitor colors, see if you can get hold of a Spyder monitor calibrator somewhere, they're golden.

    Nice colour studies. I have seen you like to use pen for sketching, well if you want to improve your lineart, I would advice you to sketch as much as posible with pen instead of pencil(specially if you are only doing lineart and not grey tones)...pen push to to draw more acuratelly from every "stroke", it is also "more obvious" and push your control of the line. This works if you do it over a pencil very loosy sketch, but if you do it from scracth it is somehow better because it push you to take decisions as quick as posible and take them right. It is a good exercise against the useful but mind-lazyner "undo" of photoshop or rubber in pencil.

    Even on a flat surface, value can vary because of reflection angles being relative to the eye of the beholder. It's like ponds on a road reflecting different bits of the sky even though the road is flat.

    Flat big brush and/or Airbrush is useful for blocking in.

    What's up with your square brush? Texture is useful for some edges (like a carpet), but gritty edges can be destructive too.

    All edges does not need to be black fat lines.

    Hey Nettle. Thanks for sharing. I was totally stoked to see those few env color studies near the end. The rest of your stuff is fun as well though, and you're growing very quickly. The biggest feedback I wanted to give you I saw Prometheus nailed at the end: try to block stuff in big rather than rubbing with a smaller brush. It's something I struggle with as well but you really gotta let go and take a leap to reap the benefits.

    For my studies I use the stock hard round with sensitivity on and burning and dodging for gradation. I find this toolset totally ideal for single layer, 10-15 min studies. Even at work I use a ton of hard round besides a soft fuzzy and a simple pastel for environments. I'm really excited to see what guys like David Levy, the rest of the steambot crew and the guild wars team are doing with custom brushes. That said I'm personally much more interested in the fundamentals right now. I want to learn and understand so I can justify everything in a scene...THEN I'll dive headlong into the crazy noise technique to make my environments look like sex.

    I'll be checking back regularly and I can't wait to see you do some more of those studies man! Even one or two a night is an incredibly easy goal, and besides grabbing a few refs for the week it's like 20-30 minutes a night only.

    -Prometheus|ANJ: This really means so much to me, i already changed my brush to normal square and try little by little to get that blocking in order with bigger brush. Thank you for everything, i will read your tutorials trought again and try to understand this what you just painted here as well as i can. REALLY appreciated
    -Seth1: thanks, i don't use sharpening actually it is caused by square brush (fixed now i hope)
    -QETALIVAN: this is really useful as next im looking to better my use of line in drawin and drawing overall, thank you for the tip!
    -Locus: Yeah tutorials are allways good but some of them are better than others (depending what you want to get ofcourse) I will not propably come back to that as i allways use too much time anyway fidgeting over one piece but i will make more like it, promise

    These are latest, first is my friend Macrophage's lineart that he sended me when i asked him to draw me a vacuum medusa for painting practise. Next is little bit failed practise: Mission HAPPY! which didn't somereason look too well in the shadows areas on robots, like it is too dark and... well i look into it what is wrong here. (failed practise better than no practise at all?)

    Hey. Nice environments!! I like. YOur figures are not bad either just the faces seem disproportinate. Maybe a few skull studies would help? I always like sketching the general planes and a quick triangle for cheekbone/jawline. That helps me staying symmetrical and I can sketch the rest around those anchor points.

    And about your question what I did differently in that one study.
    Don't slap me but I simply put a layer on top set to overlay and warmed everything up a notch.
    That simple. Me cheated, haha. No. But I see the problem with retaining value in colored work.
    I got the advice and insight last week from Maxtormer to keep focusing on the values in the thumbnail. Think that helps. A lot!
    Er, yeah.
    Huge improvement since page one. (Mn, I really like your environments. Damn. Must. Do. Myself!)

    Digitallydumfounded: One skull study right here for you, i don't know did it help since i just painted it... i will do more with pencil lines from different directions.
    About that overlay, you naughty naughty girl... yeah have to try those tumbnail colouring things, sound actually really useful. Thanks for the visit and tips
