Hey ennixs, did you find the sketchbook after all? You never replied to my pm.

We just had a nice life drawing weekend here in Aachen. It was just a small group of people who usually go to the life drawing class here and we had a lot of fun (and cookies). I'm looking forward to the time when we repeat this (in a few months).
In the last months I was studying with Nicolaides' book a lot, though I find it a bit unfortunate that I can't keep up with the schedule (my official university studies are my first priority after all) and that I mostly have to use objects and photos for studies instead of a model, though it seems that now that I'm getting better at drawing more people speculate about sitting for me.

Here are the drawings from Saturday:
Two great models, I hope to see them more often.

I recently got one of those "We've noticed that you've not been around" mails. Sweet aren't they. Made me want to show up here once again. Thought I'm mostly busy with my exams in physics, I've noticed that I can't go without drawing for long. Getting all twitchy if I don't draw at least once a week

So here are some colored pencil folds studies from the FAC.

Hi, I dig last charcoal poses. I think you should push on drawing from nature whenever you can as here as first two images in this post >January 6th, 2009, 11:16 PM
Also don't be afraid to mistake and don't search for perfection in drawing, I think. The beauty of the art is in the character of it, and not in the artificialness.
About anatomy i would recommend two books>

Wow, It's been a while since I last updated this sketchbook.
After some artists I like were banned and some other users left I wasn't sure If I should post here anymore. But after all this is the most inspiring place for studying art that I know.
So I want to post here my studies again and I hope that will inspire me to do more of them

    jskotte, thank you.
Danilo, thanks for the links. I think you're right about not seeking perfection.
And I also see that often I want to make things perfect and because I can't do that I don't draw them at all.

Here are some studies from yesterday. It was an excursion of the sketchbook class for the architects. I'm happy to be able to join them on their trips though I'm not architecture student myself. It's just a lot more fun if you go drawing with a bunch of other people compared to doing it alone.
At the moment I want to improve my skills in drawing environments and in composition. I am especially interested in drawing nature and the interplay between nature and civilization. So if you happen to know a painter, photographer or architect who makes a nice connection between natural and human-made elements please give me a name.

I especially like the first sketch though you can't see much in there. It is a peace of an old brick building with lots of plants growing from cracks between the stones.

Landscape study from memory. Trying to use the methods from J D Harding's book.
I love those surface roots, such nice organic shape. I should go there again and do more studies.

hücumkedi, thanks. I'll try to do that. We only do about 10 minute long poses in life drawing, so I don't spend much time on rendering there. But I could try that on work from imagination I guess.

Today's studies weren't any good, so here are some older lifedrawings.

Today it's only this one from memory plus a rushed IDW#166 entry. Though I'm not sure if my idea actually counts as industrial design, more like steam punk/fantasy design ...

Personal problems have thrown me off my daily study scheme. Trying to get back on track.

Trying the darker tones and intense renderings in the first one, though it's still just a quick sketch.
