Hey guys I am working on my own little project and this is one of my characters but I have a problem with PAINTING!!! I hope I can learn alot from this forum!
First, welcome to the forums!
Tip for painting: Don't use the airbrush primarily to paint since all it does is make your edges really fuzzy. Instead, use a brush that has a harder edge to it, then turn down the opacity on the brush, then blend your color that way. Using the airbrush makes skin look unnaturally smooth. Also, the skin tones are really flat with you using a base color, then using a darker version of that color as the shadow. Skin has a variety of different color in it depending on some factors, like how close the capillaries to the surface of the skin or like on a man's chin where facial hair grows. Get a mirror and observe your own skin, don't rely on images from magazines since they airbrush all the imperfections out. Best thing to do is look at real people around you and see where the changes occur.
I agree with that Hitchcock said about the brushes. Also, anatomically your nose might be alittle low on the face. It's crowding your mouth which should be higher and wider.
Remember, the outside edge of the mouth (as a rule of thumb) lines up vertically with the center of the eyes. This of course can vary from subject to subject but if your way off...double check it!
...my humble and uneducated opinion.
Thanks guys! I have read your posts and will give it another try. Will post again soon.
