The Infinite Struggle of Evading Suckage

I finally gathered up enough guts to post up a sketchbook here. XD The art is so awesome (and intimidating) here and I hope I can improve with everyones help. Right now I'm 15 now so I have lots of time to improve, please don't hold out on me. X)

You know the drill, recent stuff on last page

14 years old? Wow, I wish I had your skills at that age

I really dig your speed paintings, especially the forest, very nice colours and values. Mmm, not much else to say, everything's looking pretty good. The depth in that last painting of the cityscape could use some definition though, try using some darker values for the foreground.

Keep it up, I'm looking forward to seeing more

Hardedge- Thanks mate, but I'm not that great now... :] Thanks for the advice, I really need to work on those values.

Rockhart- Thanks for the comment. :] I'll be posting more people for sure.

heh, my scanner appears to hate me, so I just got it to scan one page for me today. XD I wanted to scan more. :/ Meh, so today I've submited a face I colored in with markers, two oekakis, and a page from my sketchbook (many of the people were drawn from refs. Except the completely naked girl). I haven't anything new but after my schoolwork and tests are finished up for this week, I'll have a week off from school next week. X) I'll get lots done on that week.

Great start, it looks like you've got a basic grasp of anatomy here. Very impressive, there are a lot of really quite good younger artists on this board. I'm glad to see that you're one of them.

From here I'd like to see a few hand, foot, and nose studies, I think it could really help you tighten up some of these pictures and improve your over-all composition.

I think the problem with pen&ink is that there is no Ctrl+z command.

writers and artists have a lot in common -- we both draw from life, we both paint pictures, and we'll both spend to many sleepless nights on our work.

Gunther409- Thanks. Most of those drawings of girls were reffed though, except for the completely naked girl. heh, I've a long way to go. I'll definitely work on those hands/feet/noses and more.

My scanner appears to only be able to do one scan per day. XD Maybe I should scan the stuff on a lower dpi..?

Still submitting older stuff. A digital painting of some character in my head, and a page from my sketchbook. Lot's of reffed images there.

I haven't updated for a long time because I just got through Midterms week. This week is regents week, but I don't take any right now so I'm free to do as much drawing as I want this week. No school at all. X)

Attached are 2 older pages I scanned from my sketchbook. I need to start some studies and finish some art commitments...
I winder why there are only links showing up in the attachments..?

thought i'd stop by again. looking very nice! you're very comfortable drawing faces. looking at this stuff i forget your 3 years younger than I am! all i can say is to keep posting, and look at other peoples sketchbooks for ideas.

oh and to find out how to fix the links go to the sketchbook help page

dadushin- Ok, I'll try and work on my anatomy and lines. Thanks for the encouraging words!

Coming back to school after a really lazy vacation is really tiring me out...I'll just post up a speedpaint I did yesterday. Took like an hour or two. It's really rough...and yellow. XD I need to do learn more about colors.

You have some good stuff going for you! From looking at you pages I feel really hyper...or like I have A.D.D...

Something about them makes me think you need to slow down a little or pay more attention? I don't know, maybe not, your the one drawing them right?! They all just seem hyper-rushed. You have some good use of text on these pages too! Very "graphic design."

Thanks for visiting my sketch book ^_^

Wow, I really love your environment/scenery works you have scattered through here. That's something I really want to start trying myself.
You've also got a really creative knack for all this stuff from what I can see o.o All that stuff coming from your head is brilliant.

I don't have anything very helpful to say that hasn't already been said, but I'll keep a look out ;P

Finally back...rough week. Not much drawing got done...

Nyx702- haha, yeah, I seem to rush a lot when I draw, just pushing stuff out of my head....and the line quality suffers because of it lol. I'll try and take it slow. :] Thanks!

Babaganoosh-Some of them are from my head and some were reffed from mags and stuff. Thanks for the comment. :]

`rawr- Thanks! Good to hear that.

amazed- lol I'll keep on truckin' for sure. Thanks.

Reeshi- Thanks for the comment back. heh, I've a long way to go.

Just submitting something I did today....Trying to see if I'm still a bit rusty or not. haha. Kinda emo but it's something.

awesome sketchbook you got here man for a 14 yr old. just keep practicing everyday and youll get to be 5 times better than you are now in a couple of weeks. one thing i can point out on the paintings is the brush strokes, they all seem to have the same width and boldness. try experimenting with different brushes and work on getting the good shades and lights in them. as for the pencil art, get use to using fine strokes and same as the top experiment with different thickness of pencils, hope this helps you out. ill keep stopping by to see how your progressing.

You are so inspiring. Nice use of pages. I'm 15 and you make me want to crawl into a ball and die haha. I agree with what NYX said. Your drawings looked rushed like you put no thought into them. They look like doodles..with a sketchy look...If I'm making any sense. It looks like you are just flalling your arm and making art (just trying to make more sense haha). Well, keep drawing and do some more anatomy studies and draw from life as much as possible.

I'm only 15 and would like some comments/critiques/tips so CHECK OUT MY SKETCHBOOK! Please =] http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=117399

Gosh, I'm sorry I haven't updated in awhile, kinda got caught up in a few things.

ItalianHorsey- No, don't die because of me, I'm not worth it XD. Yes, my drawings are usually rushed, I need to slow down, but it's hard to break a habit. X{ But I'll try to slow down.

Decided to post up a forest speedpaint...haha, I had fun with brushes. I haven't been doing studies lately, need to restart....
