Lovely designs and compositions! Really unique! Also loving the pencils you do

For quick environments like the last one there, I think you can pay more attention to mark making/brushwork. Like if you blur your eyes and look at it then it looks great, so that means the values and colours are working well. But the brushstrokes are...well, sloppy. I know it's a sketch, but even then, you can vary the size of your brush, vary some edges, try painting more opaque in some areas, change up what brushes you are using etc. Take a look at this quick sketch by Pao:
    http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-m8bhSLbkyW...0/sketch10.jpg

It probably didn't take much longer than your painting took you, but the way he has stated the information is more interesting. Just something to think about

    Tasty touch-ups, man.
And nice test sketches for your CHOW entry. I'd never think changing ear position could add so much to a character's look. It's good you take so much consideration in your designs, they always come out top-notch because of it.

No crits again, just waiting for the next batch now. Keep up the good work!

so it's been ages since I was on ca last.
kai, Naidy: cheers! and like all us ca people: have you all moved on to somewhere else during these downtimes and bug swashing periods and lost sketchbooks frights of ca or are you guys looking to get back on the forum again? I guess I've been making do with facebook but it's a kinda impersonal and shallow place (quick glance hit like, not as personal as someone's sketchbook).
I started a crimson daggers sketchbook for doing these kinda quick b/w portrait sketches. don't think I'm gonna move over to crimson daggers or anything for my main sketch stuff though. I like having a history here.

been working on doing finished card-like illustrations. finding it very difficult to finish them. it's not just about sticking to it. after 20 odd days on a piece without feeling like it's getting done and only poking at the rendering I'm trying to learn to plan out the whole illustration before rendering anything. I'm bad at such pragmatics.

a couple of days on these

I need to be able to complete one in something like 10 days.

doing sketches at the moment. still bad at getting a background in there in the sketching stage so trying to keep it simple and resist detailing and rendering but still sorting out design.

YESSS!!!! You're back, and kicking MAJOR ass here. I wish the thanks button was still here, because I would thank that post in a heartbeat.

I've always enjoyed your linework and designs, and felt it needed some nice rendering on it to really show off your skillsets. Now that you seem to have that down it is just beautiful to behold (great edgework and matte rendering skills!). I think you just leveled up in a major way, and I can see Applibot hiring you for those.

Usually I like to give some constructive feedback or advice, but uhhh, I got nothing haha! Just don't disappear for so long!

Soo good. Did you just improved immensely in a few weeks? Dont worry in "finishing" some of those, the last one for example ( the angel guy ) is finished! Dont touch it! The other ones might need more clarity on what something is (detail/refining). The one with the crocodiles for example could have some reflected light on the banners and maybe a sigil/emblem.

But like Andrew said before, it is professional level for sure! Keep it up mate!

Some excellent paintings. God damn it, Nim. Give the rest of us mortals a chance to catch up.
I'm kidding, of course, because seeing people improve makes /me/ want to improve.

It's interesting seeing your painted portraits. Some look very much in your usual style, which is nice because I'm sure they might be studies.
And I was on tumblr. Mainly re-blogging pictures of androgynous naked people. Not really the best one to follow as a fair warning. The more finished ones are gorgeous. Nice how you're playing with lighting and costumes. They're practically otherworldly.

Androgynous is the future. So do women like to see androgynous women or is everyone mainly into androgynous men?

Thanks for sharing man, your artwork is so damn tasty. Your values have leveled up a lot and your linework which was already some of the best has become even more refined. I would like to see you play around more with abstract shapes within your silhouettes; think different nomadic tribes with a lot of patterns, jewelry and colours, just to spice things up How's it going with the applibot portfolio?
