EOW #77 PIRATE COVE 2 parts! 2 weeks!

    EOW #77 Pirate Cove

    DUE January 25 th

This is a 2 part challenge. Both parts must be completed for your piece to go to poll.

It will be two weeks long

    The Pirate Cove.

    Part one : the map
I want a map of a pirate cove . this is a natural landscape of some sort
    Required elements:

    Designated land and water
    A legend or key
    A scale
    A title
    And a compass rose.

Optional elements, treasure, dragons embelishments ships

Define the era and style of your world with the graphical elements of the map.

    Part 2

Create an environment illustration showing some location on your map. This is where you get to set the mood that you have established with your map.

    Required elements
A corollation between the terrain on your map and your image
    Water
    Land

    Optional elements
    Pirates
    Ships
    Treasure

You can do these in either order. But the terrain features defined by the map. Must appear in the illustration.

NO description required, say what you need to say visually.

I am changing format for the polls, Oregano convinced me that his (and oblio’s) system of icon;s and final burning thread is not as difficult as I thought. So Here’s how it’s gonna be. Work on thyour pieces discuss, get crits in this thread. As the deadline approaches I will post a “Final Burning thread”, where you will post your finished image (or in this case images) as you can see this eliminates the need for marking your piece as final and for keeping all your WIPS in one post on the other hand I will also need you to make an icon of your piece no more than 150 pixels wide. Which you outside host and post with your final image…. Got it?

    FOLLOW THE TOPIC.

POST YOUR FINAL IN THE FINAL BURNING THREAD.

SAVE YOUR FILES IN THE FOLLOWING FORMAT.
    Chow##_Nickname
    example: "EOW#100_Chaosrocks.jpg"

PLACE THE IMAGE IN A FRAME WITH YOUR NAME/TOPIC

    example from CHOW

(you can add CA logo, etc).

quickly before I get a million questions

yes Sky pirates are ok, space pirates are ok, modern pirates are ok.

just make sure you include all the required features, land water etc.....

Chaos, this sounds like it's going to rock. I've got some cool images floating around my head for this already and will jump on this if I can. Between CHOW and work, time might be a little tight, but I will see what i can do. Sketch most likely.

    Fun stuff!!

I've updated my image. I felt there wasn't enough there to show what I was thinking, so I expanded my canvas and went for it.

    And my map...

I am so excited for this topic. I have a really cool idea, and I have every intention of this being my first entry. However, I have never worked with photoshop, so unfortunately what I see in my head is not what's going to come out in the image. Who cares though, I have to start sometime!

There happens to be a place called Pirate's Cove not too far from where I live. It's a nude beach. Perhaps I'll do an environment based on that.

    haha no way!!

I live close to Pirate's cove also though probably not as close as Moai (I'm probably like a half hour away at most). I've never actually been there since I'm not big on nudism but that's not a bad idea I mean afterall like he said...it IS called Pirate's Cove. We should probably refrain from nude pirates though

up to you.... As long as it has the elements required you can have any kind of map you like.
In fact it could be scribbled on a napkin like long john silver, a holograpphic 3d spacemap or anyhting in between. tatood and a kids back etc etc

adn whats wrong with nude pirates?

I think you may decide that yourself, but the map needs to have the same 'feeling' as the picture.. Or actually.. the other way 'round. The picture needs to have the same feeling as the map.

sjouke is 100% correct. Not only does you map have to show the topography of you pic. But it needds to reflect your style and era.....
