This is great, my first attempt at a COW. Hopefully it just isn't the worst here.

Okay, so I keep saying I will and then I don't... Mostly because the work load at my school is eating my life. I'll try to get something done for this one, and I hope I can make it...

Ok, first v early WIP just to test the water, or should that be ice

    Attachment 275793

concept: Creature hangs from tail in glacial ice caves looking like icicles drops on victims and spears them with its spiky crapace/limbs then uses narwhal like modified tusk/proboscis to drain blood. (this lets it take the heat from the blood in quickly where as methods of drinking blood that involved lapping up blood would be unsucessful as the blood would cool too rapidly in a frozen environment)

so thats where my head is at at the moment......

    That's the right attitude

Try to clean up your work and make it finished. Don't forget details and most important: Think about the design/shape of the creature, do not start with rendering before you are satisified with the design and have a solid base of line art...

I already like where you're going with that, seriously.
I'm going to try to get in on this one... two nights ago I finished my first ConceptArt entry ever, for Medusa the Queen, and it was a very rewarding experience. I'm loving this entry already!!

Here's my WIP for now Not sure if I should continue as I've already got loads of other stuff to do, but an image came to my mind when reading this topic so I couldn't resist at least to do some sketches.

I guess I should do some more work on the design, as it is still too much of a mountain goat

Edit: Tried out a variation of heads. I don't think I have the time to finish this, but I liked to sketch some more on it anyway.

not sure if i will have time for this one, and needs a more dynamic composition

half crustacean/insect half giant polar bear type thingy, in a cave, noshing down a Brian blessed glacier climbing hero's camp - people, tents and all. we'll see if this can work...

Hey there gang. You don't recognize me because I lurk, almost never comment, and have only attempted to participate once before (dungeon cleaner). Well it's a new year and I bought Painter X like 100 days ago and have used it once, so my plan is to, at the very least, WIP an activity or 2 here at CA, if for nothing else, to get me digitally painting more regularly. Not really seeing myself be able to refine things unless i get really attached to a topic.

This okay with you guys(and ladies)?

In addition, I am going to try to start commenting more.. even if its just, "wow, that flying garbage eater is awesome *insert name*!".

So, Glacier Terror sounds like a nice place to get started. I was immediately thinking of a "Tremors" type creature but smaller. Im also going to look at some salamander and caecilians references for inspiration.

I have to break this habit of doing little to nothing productive with my time on a daily basis. I really hope I can stop this laziness streak. Anyone near Northeastern PA is welcome to come kick me in the head.

I look forward to seeing and doing things.

Ciao... which I have never said until this message.. I don't like it. So i take it back and am sticking to:

    Peace out ya'll

Let's kick some icy horrors y'all. BRRRRRRR. It has been quite a long time for me,
going through a separation and all types of shite so I want to get my COW on again. Got to work those skills to eventually get to the point where I can pay my bills, with my skills that is.

Heres one of the thumbnails I played with tonight.
    C.O.W. - #106: Glacier Terror

edit:I just realized how much this looks like a fish. Tilt your head left.

This guy is just me playing around with some ideas, while trying to find the brushes I like in painter x. I'll see if i can do another one of my thumbs tomorrow or maybe just evil this one up a bit.

I took some advice from vegas (see a few posts down) and liquified this guy to explore some design changes. This was my favorite... I'm gonna try some pencil sketching later.

*sigh* having CA as my homepage is either a really good or really bad idea, I keep getting sidetracked by it whenever I come online! lol

ZebraHDH - Welcome fellow ex-Lurker nice WIP although it has me going Awwww instead of Arggghhh as theres something of teh baby seal about it at the moment - More Terror!

    Azathoth - Heres to Bill-Skilling-Bill-Killing!

A-Rex - I Like the idea of something preying upon whole camps of arctic explorers, definitely Terror, possibly even DooM!!! Can just imagine its satisfied expression as it enjoys those nice chewy campbeds and then pics its teeth with a tent-peg Please make time -I wan't to see it finished!

Everyone elses WIP's look promising too (sorry have run out of CC time not that I didn't think them/you worthy of commenting on, and not that anyone probablyly needs a noobs CC anyway I suspect but I like getting CC so trying to give it out too )

Sweet vegas mike, i've been watching you on dA for a while now, and i'm glad you are taking a shot at explaining your whole process. I never thought to liquify a pencil sketch before, so i already learned something extremely helpful.

THIS is glacial terror!!! (warning mild nudity!).....

Not started mine yet. I think I'll try the age old `millions of thumbnail` approach again.
