    Fresh Blood Needing Critique

    Greetings, ConceptArt.

I'm a newbie here (That's right, another one) and I thought I'd stop to get some pointers on my latest piece before I go nuts adding details and such.

There's not much else to say, I guess, except that he's supposed to be some sort of mage in training.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome. You seem to be off to a decent start, the face looks best of the piece, and I'll go concentrate on the rest here:

Use hard brushes when you define form! Everything is really fuzzy and some of the edges blur into the background.

If that magic spell thingie in his hand is a light source, why doesn't it affect his palm?

Try not to cut off a foot like that. I know they're annoying to draw, but that shouldn't be an excuse to omit parts of the picture, but motivation to learn the parts that bother you.

More practice in anatomy and lighting will do you well. Draw from life, etc. etc., you'll hear this often enough if you stick around this site.
While everything is kinda in its place, it's just off enough to be bothersome. Most noticeably, his right hand is very small, his left arm seems to have no elbow and bend like rubber, and his left leg is kinda short.

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to work on these when I have time.
