Pastel fruit study

The fruit looks like it needs a bit of blending but it's good. I agree that drawing a table would help make them seem grounded.I like the figure drawing picture. It's nice although the torso doesn't seem to match up with the hips. Also the nipples look like the need to be pushed over.I really like the work on the legs though. Also what's the other thing in the picture next to the guy?
The original is called "Putto with the Medici Ring and Feathers" ....Putto was apparently an angel....I really don't know the story behind the piece. But that thing is the Medici Ring. I thought it was a life preserver initially!
Thanks Connie...one of my great challenges is producing finished work - not just doing studies of figures or fruit, but placing the subject in some sort of context, and spending as much time on the background as the primary subject. I'm workin' on it!
One of three in a series...this is the most complete of the three. Things I'd modify right off the bat: the eyeballs need more work on the girl, her nose wasn't intentionally messed up.
Just a test to see if my signature is working...
Glad to see you have a sketchbook going G. I think my favorite things so far is the pen/ink life drawing, it has a nice energy to it, I'd love to see more of those. Also, the Raphael and Rubens studies are really nice. As for crits, like you said, less studies, more original and finished works. Keep it up dude.
I've been a slave to the contour the last few years...slowly moving away from this
Die contour lines! Die!
