FightingSeraph: thanks. no, i have no date ->

ohomoho: thank you. Its great to have you dropping some comments, too

Mischeviouslittleelf: good thanks then there has to be something not good

    The Ham: thank you

Rosa: thank you and im honored that you decided to comment

ashess, the Ham: I disagree to the point that every line should stay as i set it. Atleast when this is a sketch were I am actually preparing a fine rendered painting. I don't correct much lines when I do croquis and posemaniac studies. Those practices to me is to get a more effective like. Ashess, you are right that the artist should exercise to get a powerful line that provides a lot of information. I do try, but I care of the overall result. As Ham suggests I work in building up the form and not only concern about outlining. I do try to make every line have a meaning, but looking at a person makes me translate him into hundreds of lines because of those tiny little overlappings and details.

DStraX: åh jeg har mer å gjøre

wookiedabo: I agree about the deltoids for sure. I suspected it after posting and after further discussions with my secret anatomy guru Ive done a couple of changes. New update soon.

as I've started up painting more these days, here is a pose warmup. I must admit that I think the lines here went extremely more loosened up and playful than earlier. It must be a sign of relief or satisfaction because of completed projects and exams etc What do you say, mr Freud?

how about this one? I corrected the deltoid issue and added some more complete figure.
hmm i feel i must settle this down before I allow myself to "demonize" him. looking forward to that

getting into details slowly here. still haven't dared to start on the very detailed background :/ I'll have do a decision soon were this architectural look is going. The fence it is sitting on is just a placeholder for now.
The scenery will be a mixture of a less fictional world on its very last day on earth... and with a very stylized sunset I could go more gothic, but blah

well, I guess if that's what you want I can totally understand it for post #176. but the first painting in 172 feels squibbly too :p

    >>SKETCHBOOK. you'll visit me. I'll visit you, we'll have a tea party. with arts and shit. it'll be dreamy. stop by.

I can agree on squibbliness on 172. I can believe in many strokes though, as long as they play as a unity thanks for your feedback, really

A couple of those thumbnail enviros I do just to get familiar with palettes. I study photos or outside my window and mimic the color/light behavior. 20-30 min doodles.
Obviously these are studies for the wip-painting posted above

wow, you got a vision, a green screen and money - what else do you need to make a film?

"black milk" looks very impressive. if you can make shots like your sketches...

    keep on good work

Holy hell Egil , that thing is looking so damn good I wanna go away with it and have little bastard children CG pieces with it. A few things I can point out are:

1: The strong rim light on the barrier should carry onto his body, and you should also do a little reverse light on the body, so it pops out a little more

    2. The hand needs redoing.

3.the sky on top is so much in it's own that is seems unrelated to the rest of the image, kick in some of the purple from the lower sky there. I think that would really pop it!

remember_orwell: you need a good story Thanks. shots will be better than the sketches! Keep it up you too!

Mischeviouslittleelf: thanks for your valuable pointers. I agree on highlighting him more with the opposite light source. The sky is really a problem because that is usually not how it works.. but I'm working on some solution.

Okay.. selfportraits? I don't look that extremely old and tired, but I enjoy the exercise to enhance my underlying bone features and let them play are major role in my facial features. I think it makes a distinguished look as I play with soft fleshy forms vs hard bones?

Some progress on the painting. ToDo: work the clouds, decide the wall he is sitting on and .. some more stuff?

bigfootrooper: thanks, really I still got the glow in a separate layer. I haven't forgotten it, but need to solve it differently now with this much added highlighting. It has something to do with the smoky shades .. maybe

and now for something different. I was browsing some other forum with butterflies and I got sorta inspired butterflies are excellent color studies. The concept feels familiar somehow, as if I've dreamt it.. I couldn't find anything similar by google though.

yay holidays are great. foods, families and arts. I finished the gargoyle like painting which I now call 'Omega'. Also did a couple of doodles of my brothers and the Clint.. Hope you like.

Good news on BLACK MILK is that we were given even more money for development by Vestnorsk Filmsenter in Bergen, Norway. Given development money is a strong indicator that they show interest in fully financing the film. That means we now have 3 potential investors. Last couple of weeks I've been trying to settle the story, which is not easy.

continuing these nightmarish scenes that could eventually turn into.. some hell series..

im not really a fan of the inferno idea. a hot comfortable nightclub-like hell just isn't my ball..
ofcourse its hell, but I found inspiration in the greek myth describing Tartarus were Sisyphus was cursed to roll a huge boulder up a hill, only to watch it roll down again, and to repeat this throughout eternity.. Seems eagerly pointless and really frustrating..

Imagine a situation were you are to be all alone in a dead cold desert. The air is as thin as on top the highest mountain and the ground is but razor sharp rocks. On top of this you are to pull a huge load of people attached to you in chains. The people you are dragging with you are the remains of all your friends, family and people you ever cared about. That would be hell!

this is just a quick sketch though. I think I'm going to do something with this eventually

The 'Omega' painting was really stunning. Love the use of colours and light in it.
Loved the butterfly inspired one too, beautiful, even it was quick. And yeah, your latest concept seems pretty fascinating, you've caught a pretty hell hell there ^^

I so envy those tumbnail enviros up there, with the beautiful skies and everything. It's so simple for you! Guess I just have to practice more...

And I'm glad to hear the Black Milk project is moving on ^^

hey man! that deamon painting is really going somewhere like the intense colors for such a dark picture good contrast.
you should try to make the figure pop out more at the moment he blends to much into the background or is this intentional?
    great stuff

    Godt nyttår!

Nice stuff, man, for real! I really dig the butterfly piece! The only thing that kinda falls through on that one (and now I'm nitpickin') is the feet... they're kinda... unshapely it seems... they could do with a bit more structure... I mean.. you don't have to bring them to any more importance tthan they are now, 'cuz that's fine, but a bit more structural tlc

The demon is shaping up nicely as well! Gotta love a bigass brooding demon

That daemon 'Omega' is looking great (certainly wouldn't want it sitting on my windowsill). The wispy cloud wings and the leg musculature are sweet. Only thing I'd say is watch how far you take the rim light around the body, and make sure it gets onto the decoration under the rail.

Man your work is very inspiring. Lost for words really. I really appreciate your drive to reduce your line work. It's something I need to definitely work on.
