Thanks for the latest tutorial of the character - I really should apply texture earlier again, and in general I'm really inspired in how you render and texture your work, feels easy and yet very solid.

& Overall the rest is gold as well, just that tugs on what I need perhaps to improve more perhaps than the rest.

quick question from that last tutorial, somewhat off topic, but where did you find those photo references for the girl?

Sweet stuff. I especially admire your sense for skintones and edges.
I wish I could do that digitally, whitout making it look dead.

    GEB Haha...yeahh

CarlSpringer No problem, glad you appreciate it!

    carakhan Thank you!

SandyMan Thanks! I make some of my own, but must of them are downloaded. theroundtablet.com has a nice post with all the brushes you would ever need.

Little-Maiden Thank you! Ah yes, the toes haha. My toes are kinda big, maybe that's why

    kischi No problem man, thanks!

Ludic Awesome, glad you like it!

skMOP Glad you got something out of it, thanks!

    ArcZephyer Thank you!

MacTire Ah yes, very good point. Thank you! It's something didn't even notice, and now I'm kind of worried that I didn't notice it haha. At least it's not too bad, women characters can get away with legs being a bit longer I suppose.

Galeo Hey man! Appreciate the paintover, some very good advice about hands! I did end up abandoning that version, however I shall keep in mind those things for the future. I don't think that it was a lack of drawing proficiency that kept me from advancing on the line drawing, though. I find it a little more difficult to see where a piece needs to go when beginning with lines, since it's not really how I see things in my head.

Teundeboer Hey thanks! It wasn't a choice actually haha, it was just me not realizing it. I got that crit before when I originally made the piece also, and I think that is the biggest problem with the image.

    Thyname No problem, I agree

CrookedHorn Thanks a bunch man! Definitely like the block in method haha.

Ixius YEAHHHHH. Thanks for being lame and not updating bro. haha hope you're making good use of your summer, looking forward to see what you've been up to!

NickyBeats Hahaha I know right. Thanks a lot man I appreciate it.

    america220 Thank yoU!

    lancer_idenoure Haha awesome, thanks!

    Kungfoowiz Thanks man!

dan liimatta No problem man, glad you like it. Keep up the great work yourself

lupodirosso Well the one is a victoria's secret model, alessandra ambrosio, who you can find anywhere. The nude girl, I'm not sure, I just pulled it from my reference folder on my hd, luckily enough they fit my pose exactly. Probably from kindgirls I think.

    jiina Thanks!

    Gilles Thank you!

    Voodoo_Mama Awesome, glad it helped!

    Yor Haha I hope so!

    mrd33ds No problem, thank you!

Nibras Hey thanks! Just dropped by your sketchbook

Jason Scanlon Thanks! I hope it was the koloss you're thinking of haha.

Vaejoun Thanks! Keep practicing, you can do it!

Wooo long list of replies. Glad you guys like the tutorial. I had intended to keep you guys updated on the progress of this piece, but for some reason after the sketch I just felt I couldn't post it until I finished. So here's the finished version, with the steps below. No write-up this time, but there isn't too much to explain. Maybe I'll write something up later.

I mentioned before, I'd like to get some pieces together for Wizards of the Coast and for the rising stars competition, so I really wanted to push this piece and get it to look awesome. At the moment I like how it turned out.

This is a koloss from the book series, Mistborn.

Love that tutorial, terrific form and light, especially that bit of bounce light in the face so it doesn't get lost along the sword. Is that the final crop/composition? Just curious because it almost feels like we might need to see the rest of the left hand/hilt of the sword...Not a big deal at all, just food for thought
On a technical note, are you working in PS, painter or both? Love the textures...
thanks for posting, I'm enjoying following your work!

Absolutely fantastic work, mad inspirational. I really like the textures you got going, as well as in the last one, the soft shapes of the figure against the hard edges and contrast of the lighter, much warmer lighting behind him. Really good stuff. Thanks for posting!

Love the koloss character, wonderful design, shapes and texture - power is just oozing from the character.

And that grin is truly creepy ~ like a hint of love and mischief all in one with that glaring eye to top it off.

& Will do & the same to you o/
