Kristina is now a FULLTIME freelance illustrator! - updated April 3rd

Check the last page's bottom for new stuff!
('cause the stuff on the first page here is old crap. seriously.)

Hi everyone! I'm Kristina, 19 years old, from Germany, and I have to practice more. Bobby Chiu said the greatest motivation for a painter is to envision what you will have after painting and practicing, and he is so right!

I can't do any finished stuff right now, but I feel so inspired by people and their art everywhere. Solution: lots of speedpaints

I painted those in December, using Photoshop and my wacom tablet. I set myself an 1 hour time limit for each of those.

I'm struck by how the thumbnail of the last work looks different than the larger pic. In fact, the thumb has a completely different and interesting emotion.

    algenpfleger, thank you!
Spocksleftball - perhaps that's because of the real close cropping? I don't know xD

Making drawings after old master paintings... I so wish I had a life drawing class now, but for now, copying will have to suffice.

And this is a portrait of Braimaki from a novel by Nikos Kazantzakis. Don't know yet exactly what the story is about, but I like that guy already xD

Thank you! What do you mean by "single line"? sketches without shading?

I really enjoy your style, looking forward to more in the future.

Are you living in the matrix or do you think all of this is real? For me, well I am pretty dang sure it is the matrix. beings.

Very impressive studies! Especially those life drawings, I like how few lines you use to establish the form. Keep that up, it'll certainly get you forward

As for the digital paintings, they're looking very pro, it's obvious you're getting confident in that area. No crits here really, just keep doing this and you'll improve. Very nice sb!

Here I set another time limit - 2 hours. Didn't quite manage it - the speedy turned out to look finished already before 2 hours.

Cool stuff Kristina! I really like your pencil and charcoal studies. All of your stuff is very similar, having a soft and almost ethereal feel (which is cool), but I thought maybe it would be cool to see what you could do with a different style. Maybe something more rough and sketchy. I noticed in some of your work that you tend to have some sketchy lines that you put over top of everything at the end, which gives it an interesting contrast, so maybe you could push that even more. I think it could end up leading to something really cool. Anyway, just a thought. Tschüss!

I like how everything is so soft and pretty, it gives it a fantasy/dreamy feel. I wish I had the patience to make my art softer.

    wo liegt denn Meerbusch?

Well first of all really nice speed paintings, i think you don´t do wrong to study other artista, especially the old masters.
Nevertheless common study of anatomy and composition/lighting is definitely a must.
From my own experience doing speedpaintings is a great thing, to get the essential on digital paper as quick as possible.
Nevertheless doing finished work is something you should do, because there u learn different things and difficulties which you don´t learn from speedpaintings.
And also u have some "real" work done, which is quite satisfying... for a few days...

    So keep going!

    Xaya

Xaya - hallo Meerbusch is near Düsseldorf and Cologne ^^ Thank you! Usually I don't do as much speedpaints as I do now, but more finished works. They can be found in my Deviantart gallery or at my portfolio website. For now, I'm focusing solely on speedpaints since that's something I should have done much earlier

sameolesame - yes, I should do that more often thanks!
