Hey, nice studies. I think you're on the right way. If you can, you should attend some nude life drawing classes.

Here's a sketch for a piece that I've wanted to paint for a long time: Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror entering Constantinople in 1453.

I need more art books xD So I bought a book about the Nazarene artists last week and here are some studies done after the reproductions.

    Beta_v1, thank you

I've now made a speedpaint video, painting this:

Kristina is now a FULLTIME freelance illustrator! - updated April 3rd

The video is about 45 minutes long, split in two parts of zipped .avi-files. I apologize for the bad video quality. (at least you can see what I'm doing xD) My computer is slow and I had to paint using only 16bit colors so it wouldn't lag too badly.

Your drawings have a calm and warm feeling, I like how you got influenced by the old masters. Those studies are very well done, keep it up.

A picture drawn in bitmap mode (only black and white). Even then, you can make great use of spackled brushes to achieve some kind of blending

Hey Maidith, beautiful sketchbook! I agree with the others - all of your paintings have such a calm, dreamy mood to them. One thing I would watch out for though is that the female characters in your speedpaints all have similar looking faces. Doing face studies from photos could help mix it up a bit.

I also really like your master studies. In fact, I think I'm gonna try some of those myself now.

Hi Curse, thank you! I'm trying to use various references for the faces, thanks for the tip.
Doing studies after master artwork is really great for learning

A friend (algenpfleger) suggested that I try using "binary lines". So I drew a few studies using pen and ink Just looking for beauty of line so they aren't very expressive. But I managed to copy the figures straight with the pen, without preliminary pencil drawings xD *is proud* Somewhen I'll try something different with pens.
