Holy crap I've gotten better since my first post. Thanks CA!

SKIP TO THE LAST PAGE FOR THE NEWEST STUFF.

First off, I'll write a few words about myself, what I do, and why I'm here. I'm Syver Lauritzsen, a 17 year old boy from the frosty tundras of Norway (It's really not that cold) Most of my time goes away to playing in a band. There I play the guitar and...sing. But when I'm not doing that, I'm usually drawing.
I signed up at conceptart because it looked like alot of fun. I'm not looking to start a career in drawing, it's just a hobby.
I do actually have a real job too, though. I work at a bathroom tile store called Megaflis. There I sell tiles. So if you need to know ANYTHING about tiles, just ask.

So I guess I'll post some of my stuff here.

Just got a wacom like a week ago, so now I can finally get some work into a digital medium (Don't have a scanner)

Please, I'm always looking to improve, so don't use silk gloves while giving critique.

I started a portrait of a singer in a pretty famous band. Bonus points for guessing correctly. Obviously, I didn't finish it.

Hey, thanks for the kind words in my sketchbook - What brush do you use, is it oils? And on what opacity roughly, I'm assuming its Painter?

The two black and white portraits are awesome, I'll watch this sketchbook !

Did a few bodystudies this evening. One was for a friend, hence the norwegian writing.

I was asked by a friend to make a mean looking warrior. This is my thought process. Not really happy with the result. I suck at colouring.

hey, nice body drawings, but maybe it would be easier to use a large brush to bang in values quickly and then narrow it down as it builds in detail, it looks like it must have taken ages with all those lines! Maybe I'm wrong, the 15 min speed painting looks pretty good for 15 mins! Cool step-by-Step too, thanks. Keep it up mate, I'll be checking the next update !

Gee guys, thanks for the friendly comments

Lotet: I thought about redoing the post apocapolytprtisryrtt(can't spell) thing, but there is already that black and white WIP there, and I sortta just ripped off that technique, so it would turn out kinda the same. Maybe I'll do something similar next time though

Gadbury: Actually, the brush I'm using is quite large. It's a splatter brush, which basically consists of lots of small dots.

And now for a 30 minute pic. Tried out my first texture.

Use harder brushes to go into detail.Maybe you should go further with pencils before digital.Think about different perspectives, more dinamic. And do more anatomy studies!

Cheers!

I agree with the last guy. At this point, you should be focusing on your basic drawing skills. Get the Loomis books, and read them, and do what they say. Good luck!

Oh, you seem to have misunderstood. I do alot of pencil and pen sketching. Ït's just that it takes so damn long to scan stuff, and I'm damn lazy. Most of the sketches aren't of humans though, or anatomically correct humans anyway. More cartoonish. I have a digital version of a Loomis book, can't remember the name.
Only problem is I don't really have time to read it, working on getting my driver's license, and therefore have more important things to read.
Will get to it though, when I have the time.

always use your turn signal
the break is on the left, on the left!
check your mirrors
wear your bloody seat belt
green means go, red means stop, unless there is no one there then its a stoptional.
pass other cars in the left lane
the speed limit is a sugestion.

there thats all you need to know about driving, unless youre from jersey, rules apparently apply to no one in that bloody state.

now about your art work ::
i really like the line work you have here
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1200146223
it very egon schields (spelling?)
if you dont know who he is, google is a wonderful thing.
as for your coloring, use a hard edged brush.
alot of your paintings look like a blurry photo.

you dont need to "read" books anymore, youre an artist. you create images.
so draw from the book. I personally have no idea what bridgman is ever talking about but i can draw the shapes he can draw.

all joking aside, keep pushing your line work, try drawing on the computer in ust lines, this way you wont have to scan stuff in.

good luck on your driving test
Slainte!

hey man thanks for swinging by the sketchbook.
as for the pencil, is a .5 hb lead draftmatic mechanical pencil.
its heavy and sexy and i never have to sharpen the pencil
i love all types of pencils, woodless, wooden, and the like, but for tight drawings
like ive been doing as of late, the mechanical pencil is best friend....for now.

look forward to seeing more of your stuff
Slainte!
