[ Yes, the preparations are well underway for what should be the most ridiculously spectacular New Year's celebration the city has ever seen! ]
[ Tomorrow's DSG will find our alien robot dragon at its destination, doing its thing... ]
[ ...But, today, it is quietly being moved by big truck. ]
Holiday: THE GREAT NEW-YEAR'S ALIEN ROBOT DRAGON IS TRANSPORTED BY BIG TRUCK
Guess I'll start off then. I tried to do this fast, in 40 minutes, for practice-purposes.
Iambanana: I love it, it has immense character , the look on the dragons face is great.
Southern: Brilliant detail, especially on the front of the cab . The dragons "skin/plates" along the top has really nice texture, it keeps drawing my eyes across.
This took far too long, I ended up spending probably 2 hours on and off, just couldn't take the focus from the truck. In the end, as you can see I put two stripes through and added some odd textures in the background.
& Good stuff everyone, esp. Southern & dm7.

-All right, I didn't even want to post this. It's so bad. But I'm never going to get better if I don't get some advice (and crits) from people who know what their doing.-The first part is the line sketch that I scanned in. Then there's a colored layer with the line work over it at 40% opacity. And finally the color only which was intended to be the final image.
-The original idea was to have some wood grain in the back ground like the dragon is in a crate, then the light was going to be coming from some knot holes in the wood. The problem is, I've already spent 3 hours on it.
-I don't have a tablet, and I know a mouse is going to make things take longer, but if anyone can see what is taking me so long, or give me some pointers on capturing the idea faster and clearly I would be forever grateful.
-I'm very frusterated, but I know if I keep hammering away at these I'll get better!!
Art is never finished. Only abandoned. -Leo
If it was me, without a dpen I'd do it fully analogue with some final rendering digitally at most; but bar that nonsensical thought - try using paths more.
Or simply get a digital pen somehow (I'd probably myself if I couldn't afford one; or you don't need the flash if the competition is a mouse).
But that said - until then, what about good old arcylics?
