    Encyclopedia Animalia

So this would be my Encyclopedia Animalia. I love zoology and anything animal, this journal will therefore mainly be devoted to my biggest inspirational sources; creatures both big and small. Some real, others made up.

Oh, and I guess a few humans, enviros and mechs so don't worry.

So this is the white-eared bludger bear(!), an omnivore native to the Eurasian tundra. This quick and rather rough colour sketch was drawn in Painter IX and coloured in Photoshop.

Speculative zoology? I'll be keeping an eye on this!

And the first piece ain't bad either...

    ...which is only my opinion.

Nice start for a sketchbook. Keep them coming.
I'm really excited in seeing more colouring. The fur you painted looks simple but effectively real! Keep 'em coming

that is superb! i love the caligraphic line weight you're using - the hind quarters of the coloured creature reminds me of okami and the profile of the head reminds me of dave curd

looking forward to 'the next batch'

Fantastic sense of anatomy. These are great. i guess you've been to the naturalhistorical museum and drawn a few times. I've been there from time to time, so much inspiration. Last time I sat and drew this rhino skeletion they have. The cranium of these beasts are fascinating.

I haven't talked to theo for a while now. But we should definetly meet up and sketch some weekend.

Theo said something about you working with Andreas (Yoonjin). Still working there?

Oh - thank you! I am a complete animal nut and I have always been. I've kept the weirdest animals throughout my life and I've spent a lot of time in zoos. I agree, we should definitely meet up and sketch. Have to try and get Theo out with us as well. Here's my msn, if you feel like talking sometime. therese_larsson123@hotmail.com

Yes, I'm still working with them. Well, not working per se, but I meet up with them about once a week for internship practise, so to speak. Andreas is teaching me matte painting and some 3D so I can help them with projects now and then. But yeah, I still see him.

*chuckles* I'm glad people like my animals! I was kind of afraid that people would be bored because they're so... Well, ordinary.

Flipnastywebby: Thanks a lot! I'm using Painter, the scratchboard tool under 'pens'. It's absolutely great and I really cannot stop using it.

    Answer without an update...

As we talk about in the scandinavian thread, we should have a sketchmeet. Would be really fun. You can teach me how to draw animals.

I don't know why when I first saw that I thought "Cow". Just goes to show you how little I know about bovines.
Great creature design though. The horn looks totally natural on the bears head. I'll definitely be watching for more.

Wow, ur illustration style is just great. Something between comic and realistic with this characteristic calligraphy stroke. I also think realistic animal anatomy is pretty hard and I'm more into comic-stuff - so I guess many people can learn much from you!
