Just keep it up. Try some quick sketch exercises before you start on the master piece, it helps get the cobwebs out and also, you might like some of your quick drawings.

I really like that elephant. He's cool. Also, you've got some really nice figure studies here.

    The return!

Thankyou again for the input everyone!

TheCrazyDude: Im definately going to try some faster more gestural studies soon, giving a drawing form was something ive always skipped over a bit in the past so I just wanted to check I could before I really cracked down on poses and gestures and anatomy and such. I hate to admit it but my artistic library is pretty slim, I dont know whether this is something everyone goes through but I really just feel like I cant learn from books for some reason. If you think its really worth it Im up for giving it a shot though..

Smartkyle: Thanks, theres a male study for you in this post! Im studying at a university in Bath in England, are you on any degree's or anything?

Mythwork: I definitely will (both keep at it and try some faster stuff). thanks.

    Dmitry: Cheers!

Okay so Ive been pretty ill for the past couple of weeks and Ive not got anywhere near as much as Id like done (also been pretty busy with an essay and six months worth of uni work to organise and hand in) but it looks like I can get back into the swing of it over the next few days. Heres a couple, a random creature design which I know is pretty poor and quite generic but its pretty much my first real concept design so I thought it should really go in here regardless:

    Thanks team!

Nice figure studies mangs! Keep 'em coming, a big problem area it looks like for you are hands. Maybe try doing a whole page of hands?
    That elephant is also interesting

solid figure studies and a nice simple creature. The creature has a good readable simple shape, i would suggest that if your develop it further only touch the texture of it.

what you started on the neck was nice

Those last figures really look great, as well as the creature.

If you really don't like books too much, I highly recommend then to check out Glenn Vilppu's DVDs, He really helps with trying to see the action of the figure. You might also like his books as they can add more explaination to his method. This will help put more life into your work. Also if you haven't heard of PoseManiacs. Its a good site to use... It features 3D models with muscle tissue that you can turn. The great thing about it is that it's online and doesn't cost a damn thing. I'll have to get some useful info for you shortly... I currently have to get something done at home.

    Later,
    Shawn

The figure studies look promising. Maybe try some muscle and bone studies as well, to get an even better understanding of them when you're doing figures.

Very nice studies, those look like poses I've seen from posemaniacs. ;D
Do you block your shapes/whatever out before getting the shape of the outline, or do a gesture of the whole thing? ;D
