    Hey Congratulations!!!

I don't know how long it is until the school starts, but it might be a good idea to get a little more familiar with drawing on a larger scale (with charcoal maybe), and with painting. Just because I think it will be asked from you to go larger than A4 most of the time.

Good luck to you ^^ Though you probably won't need it hehe.
    Love,
    Marleen.

The only thing more crazy than the number of comments you get are your sketches!

I haven't drawn or painted for two weeks now, reason is to deal with life and things that have stuck into my head! But seeing your work, commitment and ways you love to brake spells over techniques and simply getting better is so sanative and inspiring to me! How do you get your energy and patience, I have no idea.. but I know it ante comming just from a redbull can!
All best to you, and thank you!
..I'll go and sharp my pencils now

Oh yeah one more thing Algen, I recall you saying you "wish you had more subjects around you to draw" did you not? (Random though I had while at figure drawing tonight)

Haha I was so like that too, I had no idea there was so much stuff going on around me. Dude there's most likely so much stuff going on near you as well and you don't even know it! You would be surprised by how much figure drawing sessions there is around you. Or at least I hope... take a peck man! I don't know where you would look, but try and find something to tide you over!

If nothing else, dude, just go ride the bus or something, maybe takes a little getting used to drawing people outside. It made me feel self conscious at first, I didn’t like the concept of people talking to me while I’m drawing them, but I got used to it =)
    Anyways best to you.
    -Dylan

Man, i'm so glad i won't have to eat my shoe! I was really beginning to worry there But anyways, nice update. Them two multilimb pics are quite nice, you could concoct a nice image out of that idea. First two are good too, it's an interesting exercise to focus on a single figure and how it's placed on the page.

I'm really happy for you - You're living the dream! Some advice:

    1. make friends with all your professors - don't burn any bridges!
    2. Make friends with your fellows, especially, as Jason Manley says, with those who are motivated. But, don't let the popular crowds keep you from producing - do something artistic every night!
    3. Keep your love for art all through your life. Don't let it get dull or tedious - the main way is to think of projects, and see which feels right. Then put your heart into it.

It seems that both Jana and you got enriched by painting together!

Thanks guys! This means a lot to me =0 Umm, the school in question is the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig... a pretty prestigious institute, at least in Germany. Still can't believe that they actually took me haha, my life is going to get so much better from now on D:

Well maybe. At the moment I'm still struggling with everything... gah, everyone's been kicking my ass. Sorry for again just dumping this stuff here, I'm so tired..... been drawing pretty much all day... need to sleep now. Sleeeeeeeep aaaaaaah~

I've been trying to do some loose, fast gestures to warm up in the morning... I need to give my figures some believable motion, so tired of the awkward, stiff poses that I always draw... well i guess it takes practice...
    Some sketchbook crap from head....

Not so quick color study from a photo I liked... I'm approaching these differently now, using Sai, I turned of the opacity setting of the brush so I can only paint in patches of the exact color I chose... I hope to force myself to look closer this way, instead of just glazing the same three colors over the entire image all the time... it's a lot harder and slower... but I guess it pays off... looks crap though... well the result is not exactly the goal here...

Multilimb figures from the parallel book with Jana Even though she kicks my ass

Life paintings... done the same way as the photo study above, without opacity setting... so hard to see all the colors... edge control isn't possible either this way, so excuse the rendering... it's really just aimed at seeing the colors...

And a WIP... about 3 hours in so far, without refs... reaaaally cheesy, but I think I like where this is going, maybe I'll find the courage to finish it...

Do you still use Sai as your main digital painting program?

The multi limbs are really cool. I've been wanting to do some since I read through Hogarth's book. Glad you got accepted too, you deserve it!

looking Great Algenpfleger! the multi-limb excersize looks so great I may have to give it a try. Your figures from the mind are clearly improving. The sai stuff looks like a really good color excercise as well, don't fret! Keep up the Great work! Don't worry about not being able to reply to all the "replies" just update as you can!

I really find opacity a tedious thing to use, im surprised you managed to stick with it so long.

    http://zhuzhu.deviantart.com/art/Z-P...es-V2-55088505

^ Those brushes are really nice to use in photoshop and for the most part just utilise flow. I find using full opacity makes colouring so much more fun anyway, its nice to have really vibrant colours standing out without blending taking anything away.

Cool beans though dude and congrats on getting into the artschool.
