I'm a 3d artist by trade, but whenever I'm not working I study 2d stuff to attempt to become a good concept artist someday.

Here's what i did recently, your crits and help will be greatly appreciated!

those matte paintings are strictly from following the dvds.

Yeah I think I have that DVD you used to do the city scapes. If I remember they're built from bits and pieces of other photos. I like the chick with the blade on her arm. Looks pretty nice. Keep it up man.

thanks very much for the support!

Yes that city is really mostly photos collaged together with minimum painting.
But it's an amazing exercise in creativity IMO. If I had better painting abilities I could just go nuts on that stuff, so I'm working on it!

That train is very nice concept-wise, i love the design.
All the other drawings are fine too!

And as hmanafi said, show some of your 3ds to us man.

    Keep it up!

it's been a while, I've done some more work, and here they are, hopefully there's some improvement? :/

These are master studies. I did a bunch of free sketches too but they're pretty embarrasing, I'm not sure I want to show them.

    Please critique!!

    Hi Silentrage,

The shading and perspective on the train are spot on. And the portrait studies are very nice as well.
Like you said needs some cleaning up on the last digi portrait but the colors and anatomy look's really good. You seem to have a good understanding of the form. Try some different lighting direction I'd suggest.

Now let's see some figure studies and more life drawnigs

It's been a while, I thought I should start taking a regular dump here, so here goes!

Most of this is from the last year or so, done during TAD. In roughly chronological order, oldest to newest.

I'm a little ashamed to say that I pretty much just copied exactly what he did, but that was a long time ago, I know better now.

Started following this SB last week; Wonderful wonderful figure drawings! :o

If I may ask, where do you get all those figure reference photos from? I've thousands of nude model photos sourced from the web but none of them have such great lighting as the ones on your SB.

    Thanks!

They're from TAD, taken by Brent Watkinson.
    They're pretty bangin' aren't they.
