Hi all, I'm having a little trouble with painter IX. When using certain brushes the square area that the brush has made a mark in gets a sort of border like an artifact. This goes away once I have finished painting that dab but it is so so distracting, sometimes i paint and can't tell exactly what I've done until I take my pen away - hardly ideal if I want as much control as possible!
In my attached picture i have drawn a long stroke along the forehead with the background colour, you can see where I've painted by the trail of lines left behind (I took the screencap before they popped off having finished the stroke).
This was using a fairly simple brush, the chunky oil pastel. Any help would be great, it's driving me nuts - not to mention hurting my eyes trying to see past it!
Close other programs while working in Painter.
Close Painter after an hour or so.
Relaunch and if the problem continues, reboot.

Keeping Painter 6, Painter 7, and Painter 8 Running Smoothly
Painter demands a lot of resources so it's good to give it a break now and then to free up memory, etc.
It's annoying, but not too serious. Just remember to save often, and save in a numbered series of files. Then, if anything happens (i.e. a crash) you won't lose all of your work.
I find that a quick zoom-in, zoom-out resolves that pretty painlessly. I have some easy to reach keyboard keys set to these functions and just tap them quickly to eliminate the 'blockies'.
