*shrug* I have no idea. She is sticking her tongue out because her lower lip caused me problems.
I feel like I learned something on this one, though. I started messing with brush hardness so that some edges are intentionally soft and some are intentionally crisp. I'm sure I got some of them backwards based on what I am going to call an upper left hand light source.
Bourone - Hey, thanks! - Now that I have my tablet back, I don't have much desire to sketch on paper. It sucked not having my tablet. *grumble*

with the foreground for quite awhile, couldn't seem
to find a brush to do my work for me.

Been busy lately - here's a sketch and a lame room I modeled in max.
Avoided texture brushes this time. Well, 99% of the time. Also limited myself to one hour. Ow ow ow.

hey, coming along quite good. The yellow on his face looks slightly out of place. Human skin generally tend to have a tint of blue/green, but the only yellow tints tend to come from light or surroundings.
The face is also a bit flat due to lack of lighting, but then this is only a WIP and I'm sure you'll get there

there are some nice gestural things happening in your work. I think this last painting of the mans head needs more planar structure. The features look like they were copy-pasted onto the face. I would also say you need to use more color in your shadows and less black. I think you are on the right track with those environment copies, focus on matching the color and it can help inform all the other work you do. What year in school are you?

I've been getting in the habit of sketching with a pencil everyday -here are two of my more recent results.
Two more pages before bed.
Tamte: I will work on it -- I still have trouble discerning colors in real life. I am getting glasses soon, maybe that will help? Jason Manley was a guest speaker at school today, and at one point he was talking about observation and he looked up at the ceiling and was like, Yeah, I see this color and this color and this color and I'm like, There's green on the ceiling! F*#@!!
I just returned from a six mo. leave of absence, after about six mo. in my program. So, not sure if that counts as first year or second year.

In the second post, the image of the woman's face in the water, I think that is really neat. I's so affective for how simple it is.

Great ambition, I look forward to seeing more, The Chow 124 you did grew on me, reminded me of art nouveau style, so I came to check your sketches.
This is a project I'll be doing till October 7th for a foundational drawing class at school (Guildhall at SMU). The assignment is to achieve a photo-real equivalent of the reference photo.
If something doesn't look right, (obvious or obscure), let me know! Thanks!
1. Find a Subject (Photo) of a person with a high level of detail in it
2. Pencils – Define the details, features and proportions of the subject
3. Values – Work up a black/white version of the subject
4. Colors – Work up colors and skin details to high level of realism
