Sci Fi Machinery & Equipment... Best Artists of... Inspiration Thread

Anybody have any favorite artists who do sci-fi machinery? It would be cool to have a thread of inspiration on the topic... From comic books and black and white work to oil paintings or concept work...

I guess wally wood is a good starting point...

Hey Kev, what's wrong with old fashioned! The older stuff looks more 'other worldly' even more now - not retro so much as 'classic'.
Great idea for a thread btw. I'll see what I can dig up.

It is both cool and true to have this kind of sign on the comic cover ----[Caution: reading this comic can dye your fingers black]

    enrigo - haha.
kingshaj - I was reading recently his comics and you're right. It all looks quite natural.

By the way. They made a super short anime based on his comics which are kind of introduction to the whole story. Very weird mood. Here's Log 6 with the same fragment posted above. I love this industrial style elevator .

From personal work of Ryan Church. One of my favorite sci-fi perspective sketches. I'd love to be able to draw this kind of stuff.

Epias - Thanks for those Syd Mead layout photos.
riceface - Well. It's not a free downloadable movie. I'm sure if you search in Google, you'll find a way to get it.

When it comes to robots, I like those done by Keith Thompson. To me his designs have good balance between functionality and "just cool shapes". It's not overloaded with detail and it's not boring either (or it's all just well arranged).

Just two I especially like. There are some new ones I haven't seen before on his website.

The syd mead stuff is is great. You can find a some of his older stuff on flickr, things he did for the US steel catalogue in the 60's. Retro futurisme and sixtys optimisme.
