When I'm not listening I do this
I think it's time to start my sketchbook. Probably should introduce myself first though.. Hello! I have been drawing about 3 and a half years now, give or take... I started this art thing because I had to make a choice between of being an alcoholic postman in northern Finland or some cartoonist.. I chose wisely looking back now and I like being some cartoonist. Two years of artschool where I learned a bit of basics and some more. Nothing fancy stuck on my mind, I was dumb.. Yeah.. fusk it. I do what I want basicly but I never let a good advice pass me by. So feel free to share you're thoughts about anything. I'll respond with my limited english and internet dictionary.

Hi, I'm from Finland too. I just picked up drawing for much of the same reasons! I never consume alcohol though. That's a skill nobody has ever taught to me. And I live in central Finland.
Where did you go to school? Every major school I know requires some huge portfolio with skillfully created imagery and 1% of the applicants get in. Of course there are some courses outside of "main education system" or whatever, but they often cost quite much.

I went to the Liminka school of arts (www.limingantaidekoulu.com). It's a good place to be and draw because you can even sleep in you'r "classroom" if you want. And it isn't that expensive that you'd think or atleast it wasn't at my time. You should take a look at it if you have few years to spend.

ped545: Yeah, I do watercolours. Like this one and the previous ones.. About anatomy - I think that I can do realistic enough if I feel like it. If the picture in my opinion doesn't need realistic anatomy I just dont do it. I guess I should post some figure studies so you can crit them.

This is about 30 min sketch + colouring and then editing. Still testing what kind of style I like and what is useful for my future comic.

Some fanart kind of thing from Bokura Ga Ita. That is the best cap I have ever draw(n?). How do you bend that word anyway? Anatomy studies some other time.

I bought this book called Bad Hair by James Innes-Smith and Henrietta Webb. It has people in it with funny hair. So here's a couple of drawings from that book. I spent about half an hour on both.

First is from yesterday. some sketchies about a character for a comic and some anatomy issues with legs... Yeah, I have an anatomy book right next to me but it's big and I'm lazy - today.
The middle one and the left side of it is from today. I had a scene in my mind and tryed to capture it. I failed and my pen died, but the image is still on my mind. The Right side is probably the most realistic women I have ever drawn without a preference. I made her hold a water urn or what is it, because of today is the womens day thing and that kind of reminds of things. Serious things ...insert language barrier...
The Last one is a few efforts of trying to draw my girlfriend and bunch of stuff. There was strong morning light coming from a window and I just ended up trying to do the shadows kind of right. Well, there you have it.

House's face and some other face... House done digitaly and other traditional. Actually it was an eyeliner or something like that that I used, for the longest time I thought that it was a some sort of funky crayon, until last week I figured out what it was. Not by using it on me, no sir, I dont do make up.

Here is some sketches/paintings of Houses face. Pics are from last.fm that I used as a reference so those were tiny. jep jep. Next time it'll be Bob Dylans turn. The one with faded colours is the original one and next to it is one that I adjusted levels on. bad english I guess I have.

Well, this is no Bob Dylan. I tried to do a pose from my head but that didn't work. I'm showing this so that this thread looks more of like a sketchbook than selection of random images. I'm slowly staring my entry for panels of the week 10th round. It's a special one so everybody should at least try to take part. Zombies or 10 it is for me.. two stories in my head... I'll try to do them both!
