The jaguar you have up there is pretty awesome! And the photo referenced portrait a couple posts before it is good too.

I would advise mixing in a bit more reference work, as it will help you do your creative stuff better.

DeJakhalz- yeah I know... those were just quick 1 ~ 2 min sketches. And it seems that my heads get bigger the faster I draw.

k next group of drawings! these are a bit longer ! the first few are about 5 min. I think and the last couple are 10 ~ 15 min.

alright now for the good stuff! well almost... the first three are 1~2 min warmup sketches i forgot to add with the others. the rest are longer poses, about 10 ~ 15 min. and the last one is a 40 min. sketch (the final sketch I did for the class). well that's it for the anatomy drawing for a while guess I'll have to go back to the good ol' imagination...

You kept busy. Good to see.

Life drawing is delicious. It's great to see this from you, and you are doing a great job.

Also: I'm a fan of the patterns, but maybe try simplifying a little bit. Pick one or two patterns, and use a flat color for other areas. Experiment with different palettes too. Try to create something really cohesive, or something that really clashes, or something in between. Use you judgement, have some fun.

sedig- ahhh good to hear from you. Yeah the patterns can get confusing sometimes but i think if i play around with the right size and direction of them i can get it to work. at least it's intresting yes? anyways yes tey are very fun to do. as for my life drawings... that's going to be the end of them for a while (mostly due to the fact that the class ended) but i did learn a lot.

k just a quick cartoon. almost saw this happening in the hall not to long ago....

I dig it! That danger is all too present. (that cord is like Garrot wire it is!)

I'm also digging the pattern drawings.

    keep up the good work!

Hey dude, have fun going through your SB pages. Like the ideas and style you have going on, some were really funny to as well. Don't get me wrong, the graphic type of style with flat colors and patterns is enjoyable, but in the long run it will help you skill wise in doing more pieces with actual shading and volume, the same way you are doing with your life drawings. Just a suggestion.
Other thing to point out is that when you deal with more than one character or element in the same piece, don't forget about the perspective. In some of the art crusades one, the perpesctive of the chars quite don't fit well. I believe in one of the Loomis Books, he shows some gives guidelines to get this correct.

Anyways, keep up with the life drawings, those are a great way for improving.

Maestro Andres- Thx! Yeah I know the pattern drawings need some work... (maybe alot of work) and the best thing for me to do is practice traditional art more but.... that's just not as fun. Anyways I'll start all of that when I go to College (hurray for art class!) next fall. And thanks for the perspective tip. I've noticed that sometimes my figures can look a bit... um wonky sometimes.

Hey you're still young so you can just go on and enjoy what you do! Just don't stop drawing every day since you are advancing.

I would recommend doing some more specific anatomy though. Know how the arms work etc-

Anyways, I really like your graphic stuff, you already have a good sense of style. Keep it up!

My friend, you have a sense of humor. I've been waiting for someone to be clotheslined by an iPod cord for a long time.

Listen to both Maestro Andres and Faust--they are both right. Practice, but make sure you enjoy it.

~Faust~ - Thx! yeah anatomy is my biggest weakness but like you also said there's plenty of time for that later! after all it's better to be more creative than technically sound right? (well at least sometimes... )

Sedig- good to hear from you. Yeah i've been waiting for that to happen in real life for a long time too. You'd be suprised at how many people do that while walking around in the halls at my school but yep totally agree that pracitce makes perfect!

ok so here's a little of both worlds. a hand study done in a graphic way!

I like it. The dots almost give it that halftone comic book feel! One thing you might do though is to keep the dots at a constant size, because the variation can be strenuous to the eyes.

brewmaster- Thx! yeah the dots could be a little more even, maybe even further apart.

wow it's been a loooong time since i've posted anything.... im really busy right now and this will probably be a common problem for the next few weeks (getting ready to graduate from highschool!) so just to keep this book alive here's a ninja that i'm designing for my track team's t-shirts....

I like! The head and neck on your illustration could be reduced in size just a tad. But other than that, it's a really neat concept. I might even go as far as to suggest doing more of these.

hey rockhart, I like that ninja a lot. It might be nit picky but I'd suggest playing around with your stroke ends to bevel on the eyes and try some different brushes that illustrator has in its artsy library for a background. I think you would have fun with those.

The sp is okay, its got a massive neck and you don't so much. You're shoulders are wider than the drawing too.

Brewmaster- yeah my neck is huge (in the drawing I mean ) I should probably fix that.....

Matsign- Hey! thanks for the comment! yeah i could play around with it a bit but since my coach already sent the design to the print shop I've kinda lost intrest in it. Yeah I noticed my porportion problems (especially once i stuck the real photo of me up there) but then again I did draw the photo with only a face refrence . who knows it was fun and another one of these might be showing up sometime.

ok just a qucik illustrator-edited sketch to keep my SB afloat. kinda just something funny to pass the time.... soon, very soon I will finally be able to spend mre time on art and less on graduating from highschool (only one month left! X) )

All right!!! Made it through the last few weeks of school and I am officially GRADUATED!!! Ok so just to prove that I haven’t just been slacking off and been playing videogames here’s a few pieces that I’ve done recently. The first one is awesome because it received “Best Illustration with Story” in state (Oregon) for the Northwest Scholastic Press Publication Olympics (wow that’s a mouthful). And while it’s not exactly the best piece I’ve ever done for my school newspaper…. I still won! ^_^ Well that’s the most exciting thing that’s happened for my art for a while….. the rest of the drawings are just stuff I thought was interesting… enjoy! And please feel free to critique!

Well it's official... I'm Back! ^_^ (not that anyone cares) so I'll be trying to post at least twice a week while I come up with a way to pay for college... k anyways the first piece is just a touchup (in a way) of a previous piece. the next was a cartoon I did for my high school newspaper (hope you can taste the irony in it). enjoy and make sure to tell me if i'm doing something wrong
