Its' free and it takes less than 10 seconds!
Trisquel: You'll be fine. Just go out and have fun. Practice. It'll all work out.
Kristoff: Thank you, thank you. You keep at it too!
Went out to the library again with the lovely jje1000 and drew the old people that seem to be the majority of customers there. Then we got bored and gave each other topics (I got hypno-toad and devilishly dainty). Then drew old peeps again. And quite possibly the most boring, cliche and muddy landscape ever (it used to have a city where the burning teddy is, and seriously, if there's one tree, generally there's more), then I added the burning teddy which made me happier. ... and another head.
Thanks for the link andres333!
Some more calming heads (I do draw men!) and a crop of a larger piece. I'm trying to keep the lighting the way it is but currently it looks like she's going to sneeze and you don't have a good idea of what on earth she's holding that's glowing. Crits and/or suggestions?
Figure stuff and sketches are looking better! I really like how your vale stuff are coming along. Better and better! Your sketching digitally and traditionally, good variation.
More pixie, more. We want more!
and by the way, what was it with that www.ctrlpaint.com site; i can't make the link work
You're on the right track from what I see. There is good range in your sketchbook, from figure drawing to animals, values, digital and traditional!
My favorite part would be the life drawings (especially #422). A suggestion would be to spend a bit more time on defining shapes, like what you did with the sandals in that post. That would definitely make you progress faster.
Keep up the good work

Nice updates.i like the girl touching the necklace it looks like there is a story behind it.=)
Awesome artist and friends
I really like how you said this, I went over my SB and I thought dammit they
look as if somebody would stop the time, so I will slow down now and I already
have some sketches not scanned yet, but other updates on my SB.
Thank you very much, I love the library sketches and the girl with the light,I think you have lots of life and vibrancy in you line work
DK_sketch: Well, at least its reading alright apparently. Still not done, but I will work on my rendering at some point.
e-nat. Thank you. I'll try.
qlotzan: Thank you!
strangedawn: Not much of one to tell you the truth. Its pretty much your typical teen-ish girl wanders into graveyard with magical talisman and important book of some sort type story that you can pull from any book.
iven: Thanks! Hey, keep at it, ok. Practice and practice is all it is.
Here's the miniscule stuff that's in the works. As usual its all done for therapeutic procrastinating (or a TC). Soooo... mostly comfort zone girls. Depressing but at least its something. And thankfully I seem to be moving away from purely portraits, so we'll she where that goes/how long that lasts.
More fuzzy edges... sorry DK
(I know she looks electrocuted... I'm not sure if I'll stick with it or not.)
Perhaps if other features of the girl, like the front hairs can appear to be lifting as well, it may solve this issue of looking like she's electrocuted.
Hypno toad is awesome.

Awesome artist and friends
I really like the girl with the light in her hand very powerful,
maybe I could say I like the spirit of it.
Thanks for showing how you painted the girl in PS, that helps
me to understand how you do that, love it when I see stuff
like this in a SB, it makes me come back and check !
You thought that I have forgot about you.
But I did not.
I came to see what's up, and I realized
how happy I am when you draw and paint
vampires and graveyards. Your digital skills
are going up quality vise.
A few more pages and everyone will be jealous.
Happy new year!
I'm really enjoying your sb!Great stuff!
Keep it up
Your compositions in your pieces are great, storytelling is right through them. Your studies have great line, especially those last foot studies, I have a thing about feet and really making them seem weighted to the ground that you have
strings: That's a good suggestion! ...and just don't lick the toad and you'll be fine.
strangedawn: Thanks. I completely get what you mean.
Jacky-Boy: Thank you!
iven: Always glad to be of some sort of help.
Vulgar': Thank you.
Izene: Very, very belated new years to you too.
TFsean: Thank you!
I somehow managed to get a job in New York for a few months. Sadly I didn't draw much simply because I didn't have much time, but I tried to pull out the sb on the subway once or twice. People can be pretty weird if they think you're drawing them- I had a few people literally move to the other end of the car to make sure I didn't. I've got a new arch portfolio put together which you can get to at the link in my sig if for whatever reason you're vaguely interested. Anyway, here's a few little bits from the sb- the girl with bot is vaguely inspired by the current chow, the other PS thing a wip which, once again, who knows how far it will get. I obviously have no idea how to draw leaves.. x|
The girl looks pretty comfortable with heights, judging from how her left arm is rested and by her smile. I don't know about the cat though, does not look very friendly to me. For anatomy, the left leg seem extend too far out of the suggested pelvis location. Although It seems that by swapping how the legs are situated will give a very relaxed look overall. It's got the right feel for sure, with the lighting and composition.
Good work girl on getting stuff DONE, and welcome back to the real world (that is concept art!) and not one that involves cubicles.

strings: I'm having issues with her hips in general. The thing is that they're tilted because she's sitting on an angled branch, and the branch would prop up the upper legs to a certain amount. I need to get someone to sit on a railing or something I think to sort it out.
A few bits. School is keeping me busy, but here's a few bits. My entire studio project is on mushroom growing which is turning out to be unexpectedly fascinating.
And I've been fascinated by vintage sewing and styles for a bit so I decided to get some 50s out of my system. Apologies for the afterthought shadow thing. Its rather Christmas-y due to colouring but hey...
Some sketches. I'm ridiculously rusty.
And an older conceptual thing. I plan on lasercutting this at some point after some adjustments. I did a test run and realized that a lot of the segments are too thin and too uniform in thickness as well.
The girl in 442 is awesome! I really like the face so far. The woman in the last post has a couple problems that I can see. For example if you draw underneath the dress the legs don't really quite line up, or they look kind of awkward. And the dress itself its very stiff, I think it could help to make it flow better and make the overall image more dynamic. Sorry if you weren't looking for crits on it though.
Pixie, you've come a long way since your beginning page, nice improvement. Your architectural stuff is pretty outstanding. Your last few finished pieces show definite improvement on edge control as well. Love the linework in pencil, awesome stuff keep it going!
Very creative stuff going on in here!
I really like your 442 post! Nice dinamic attitude, but don't kill the cat!
It's making the mood and it gives it more life, but the tree branches could use a
different angle perhaps. Also the gray hair of the girl is making me think of a really
old person and i'm feeling weird about that. If it's not something you really want to
hold, perhaps making her light blonde or something else?
Well. I can't believe it but it's been almost two years since I posted anything here. This is a post and run, but more will be coming soon.
Last week's ChOW, sun priest. Please forgive the absurdly long forearms.
"...The priests of the sun are subject to no man: they consult with kings, and pray with paupers, yet go in chains as slaves to the sun god. Each sunrise and sunset is cause for prayer, and each day they lay their skin bare to the elements to receive the touch of their deity..." from the travel journal of explorer Millas Miradon
