Really like the jeans on the person laying in the lawn chair, and the design of the robed character in the first image is interesting.

For the rendering, I would suggest maybe trying to focus less on outlining things, and more in the shapes that different values are making. Some of your sketches don't really feel very 3D, so that may help.

And here you are with more traditional work, giving me a great example of what i should do

Well i really like the first page, with the writing on the sock and the 4th one, with the tiger, the girl and the pants-drawing view

And seeing you and whisperss do some of your watercolour work gave me a few ideas for myself!
So let us do more of that together!! More watercolour, more paint pixie!!

    Danny K: Thanks! Will do!

Caco: You make a very valid point. Thanks.

Blacky: The tiger and girl are both from a beautiful book cover by Sam Weber. I have his name on the page but it's too small to read I guess. Link -> Sam Weber's Site Link -> The book Cover

Some little things. There is so much wrong with the anatomy, esp. the hands so I really don't even want to look at it. The experiment was originally an egg study (you can kinda see them in the bg) but it turned quite hideous, so it became abstract. I need to stop avoiding doing real work by doing 'experiments'.

Blacky: I know I can do better to. Currently it's more a matter of time than anything else though.

Bendgragon: Yep, yep yep. The words of truth.

This is probably the last, or second last post for this year. I'm soon off on what I hope will be an awesome trip to India. My life has been consumed by catching up on work I will be missing as well as the associated errands that must be done when traveling.

Anyway, in celebration for the trip, I've made myself a sketchbag! It's not the most beautiful, or best crafted by any means, but the idea has been bouncing around my head for a while. Pockets for pens, pencils, erasers and sharpeners as well as two small sketchbooks, or one small sketchbook, a set of dry watercolours and other dodads. It rests at hip level on me.

I've also decorated a sb, which I think is going to become a sort of travel journal. It has 99 pages (used to be 100 ), and hopefully will become 100% full. It makes good portfolio fodder for university applications anyway. I'm looking forward to how it's going to turn out.

And some sketches. Took BD and Caco's advice to heart. I looked at everything and saw that it was like a colouring book (to a certain extent) and decided I had to fix that. Some hands are good, some are bad. The small ones in the corner separated by a line are from mind. I really like the one of the guy sleeping on the couch. Fairly good likeness, even if he looks a bit happier in the pic than he actually did. I also got a bit of a eureka moment while doing the plane version.

Last thing to announce is that I've submitted a few thing to the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Just got sent to New York today. We'll see how that turns out in a couple of months.

Well i hope you're having a christmas holiday any time now to draw some more!

Really nice studies. The hands in particular seem to have some nice hatches.

    Blacky: thanks!

iven: You're welcome! now go draw.....

    Happy 2010 everyone!

I've been feeling bad for putting off posting... here's some of the sb. It's going to take some time to take pics of it all and everything. I'm not going to do all of it. Some pages are solid writing too, so I'm leaving those out. I've been drawing since I've been back too, but that's going to have to wait to be scanned/photoed until I've got the backlog of school and this sb done.

Voila the first couple of pages of art. No particular order other than they're in the front. Oh, and I had relatives going through this every other day, so I apologize for how the pencils got fuzzy in the beginning.

Zorcron: Yep, all the online applications went off without a hitch, so now there's the wait until portfolio interview in Feb and March. Thanks.

And some more. I could actually tell I was getting better by the end, especially when I had enough time to draw a page or five a day. I also realized that I probably have an unhealthy fascination with the strangeness of animals. They have buffalo with blue eyes there. There's a pic below. There's also some very strange weaponry out there. There's a pic of how a scissor punching dagger works down below.

    More coming.
