havnt been here in a while, but i really like the improvement youve made! keep it up. i really like the graphic storytelling. you're very talented and good at it!
You do pack a lot into your panels and they're very strong visually. Will you ever get to making your own story from start to finish? I need to start doing some of these as I've got a very silly story in my head from a dream that needs this type of treatment.
Aryeh - very kind! Thank you. The whole graphic storytelling is going to be 90% of my focus from now on, so hopefully it'll continue to rise.
Black Spot - Aw thanks. I have one story finished & 2 more ones on the way to being finished. And then I'm going to do more finalised work for POW! from now on as well, committed to it. You'll see more over the next few months and *definitely* see more when I fix up my website.
I've been more and more pissed off with my scanner. I think its nearly ready for the dump. Even if I can't afford an ideal replacement, I could still do with buying anything at all instead of it. However, I finally got around to scanning a few things this evening....
Trying to capture some of the style of Ian Gibson with a little Halo Jones Fan Art... not satisfactory, I'll return to the topic shortly.
And then some JSA fanart for the monthly challenge over on the EOC forums - Power Girl on her own:
Then Green Lantern, Dr Fate, Liberty Belle & Power Girl:
I didn't grow up reading those stories, so I don't know if that is the best representation of them, but they'll do for the challenge.
And one of the commissions I was talking about before, for a tattoo design. There was a *very* specific design brief.
I'm going to wander into town over the next few days and get my POW! 51 pages scanned somewhere decent. I *might* scan some more stuff tomorrow.
Thankee kindly, CA peeps.
Liberty Belle's boobs are somewhat droopy, but I don't know the character at all.
The tattoo - something growing from a broken heart? Did it get done? I quite like it.
Black Spot - neither do I, to be honest. It was for a challenge on another forum so I just picked some characters randomly. She is looking less pert than Power Girl, it's true. I guess the Justice Society of America are pre-Wonderbra? I don't know.
SMILEFACE - thanks dude. Nice to have you popping in!
Okay, so where the hell was I? Well, the day job intervened and really stole all my free time the last few months. We had a gigantico project on that took tons of overtime for weeks and weeks. I'm into some time off now, finally. Well, my time off started tuesday but I slept for about 30 hours first, then came back on to CA.
To be honest, I haven't done a lot over the last month. Here's some Pub Scrawl pieces -
which are grand, but they're just from the few hours in the pub. I have a few Moleskine sketches to scan in, and I'm just drawing my piece for POW! 52 right now. I might post some more later today, but I'll certainly be back by tomorrow!
Sorry for wandering off CA'ers! I is back now though.
Sooooooo I'm still mid-draw on my POW! pages, but here's some bits I did for the monthly challenge on the EOC Forums -
One cover rec of an old Micronauts Cover... I've made a few little changes from the original...
And Spiderman and a Villain. I used the Juggernaut.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh. Too long, too long. I have been working on some stuff... I can't show you... sorry guys. There's some things that are waiting for projects to be done that rely on others. I've kind of gone off my moleskine recently, using odds and ends and weirdy sketchbooks I've picked up here and there. I must find a way to scan the odd sized ones. Here's some more from my last moleskine. You might see crinkly edges here and there on the page cos this one has gotten a bit damp and neglected.
It's always nice to come here, to visit
your sketchbook, remember the good old times.
Quite a mileage you have behind, so you are
a proud veteran. Thanks for sharing your art
all these years.

I would really love some honest critiques and improvements suggestions
Renewed Study - I'm drawing again!!
Thanks for dropping by my Sketch book and the FF
Now, what sort of advice can I give that you hadn't already heard? Have you tried practicing drawing the face without drawing features? i.e. Instead of drawing the eyes or nose, focus on shadows.
Been too busy to scan stuff in aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages. Here's some pics from our recent visit to Dr. Sketchy's Dublin and oh man was it fun!
EDIT - These pictures were too large for their rez so they looked super bad. See below for an update! /EDIT
I've been busy with the P.O.W.! subsection on the forums, you can find me dossing around there.

Dude thanks a lot for all the help. Your stuff are coming great too man. i'm still struggling though, trying to work with different medium at the same time is frustrating, but i'm trying .
However, I do use the teeny tiny little one a lot. They let me do random stuffs at work.
This last post is great! The proportions and structure really come out strong in this portrait, along with the efficient use of mark making.
CKLamb - why thank you sir! An honour, an honour.
I've been running a 31 day drawing challenge over on the blog for our Drink & Draw group, The Galway Pub Scrawl. It's been a great way to get my peeps drawing away day after day. Come over and check us out if you like the idea. Hey, join in even.
