More recent work at the end of the thread... but I guess that goes without saying.
Hello. Firstly, I wanna say that I am completely overwhelmed by the quality of art at CA. I am a 17 year old kid and by NO means competent enough to post here. And to top it all I don't have a scanner at home, so my updates will be mighty less. I have gathered the courage to post here simply because I want to improve. Please crit my art if you feel it has some potential.

Meet Zheng. One of my more… er… creative endeavours.
A once trainee monk in one-of-those-uber-secret-Tibetan-monasteries, he suffers from an extreme case of vertigo. As a result, he failed his final test, which involved an annoyingly large number of creaky wooden bridges. Zheng’s subsequent fall to the ground had threatened to bring down the Roof of Asia, but affected his head instead.
Since then, he calls himself Protector of the Weak (not to be confused with Protector of the Week, which, as of today, is a weird latex tube used by aliens to raise social awareness), and vows to protect all teddy bears, big or small. Although some insensitive runts prefer to call him ‘mass child murderer’, we must sympathize with him. For, after all, as his spokesperson puts it, ‘teddies are as much human as you or me’.

Welcome to CA!
first of all :nice character design, but I think that the neck is a bit weird... maybe if you look for references would help...
some CA members take photos to their drawings... it could be an option if you don't have scanner ..
aps, and about the "potencial" I think that you have a lot of talent,,, just pulish it!
Thank you so much for the comment Clodioz. Honestly, I did not expect anyone to make a comment that encouraging.
Yes, I decided to keep the neck raised to give him a 'bullish' look. But it ended up ruining the picture.
Here's a speed paint. God knows why I even CONSIDERED posting it.
Help will be extremely appreciated as I have just begun learning digital colouring.
don't be shying your pictures, your good.
the more you post the more crits you get,the better you get.
i dunno think of it like getting someone to find the errors in an English essay for you.they tell you whats wrong and how you might improve.
but seriously keep posting stuff its good
Welcome to CA I'm new here too, but there's no need to feel nervous about posting anything. That's what these forums are here for ;D
For your last speed painting, I think one of the issues may be with his shoulders and neck, as his left arm looks like it's coming directly out of his neck, while his right shoulder seems to much broader than the left. How long this creatures neck is may be a character design idea, however in either case, both shoulders look different from each other in structure. (I hope that made sense)
As for your most recent post, I really like the contrast you're using with shadows to actually help define the shape.
Please keep on posting These are looking great so far!

dont be so hard on yourself, it does not help. Just be positive and practice and practice no one was born "good at drawing" anyway i think you should do more anatomy drawing like the last post
if you have time check my sketchbook it would be great
good work with the union!
yes conceptart inspires a lot! but in my case, it also makes me sad/jealous!
you've got the skills so keep it up!

Hey there, your work is really good, I especially like the toony tarzan xD Keep posting
Marjolein: Thank you for your kind words. But I think being sad or jealous means accepting that I myself can never be that good. The aspiration of reaching the quality of art here is the one thing that is driving me right now, so I prefer to be inspired. =]
ch1xx0r: Thank you so much.
Nice sketchbook man. Your much better then I am.
The only thing i can say to you, try to draw from life and keep practicing!
All critics/comments are much appriciated
