Lucia Light Bringer
Hello, awesome artists of ConceptArt.
I'm technically not new here. I have checked threads out a few times since my registration, but I never dared to post my own arts. Most of the time I do fanarts, anyways, and I wasn't sure how you guys would like that...
Finally though, I have drawn something original. Well, kind of. It's a sketch portraying one Sweden's coziest days of winter, Lucia Day. The day of the light bringer. I have no idea how familiar you are with Lucia, so I thought I'd give you a short description of it...
On 13th of December, one of the darkest days of the year, when the sun barely rises above the horizon, Lucia and her accompanying maidens (and star boys and gnomes, ususally) bring light to the people. Of course, instead of bringing bread for the poor, like the Saint did, our Lucia procession sings and serves saffron bread, ginger bread and coffee. Lucia wears a crown made from lingonberry sprigs with candles on it - bringing light, a white gown - proving her innocence, and a red sash - portraying the blood spillt at Saint Lucia's execution. Even though the real Saint was rather darkskinned and had got dark hair, our Lucia is usually a tall girl with long, blonde hair. Another sign of "light", plus blondes are much more common than darker haired up here.
Phwoah. That will do.
Here is the sketch... a small tribute.
Is it too cluttered..? I want it to have a warm, close feeling... dark but warm. Christmas spirit.
Tips would be greatly appreciated... please rip me apart. :'<
Thank you. (:

Looks good so far but I'd suggest you show her head with the candles completly and also the boy in the lower left corner.
Difficult to say much more right now.

Thank you, DigitallyDumbfounded!
Some canvas resizing is in order, then, and further sketching.
I have put down base colors if Lucia only yet - not come very far with coloring nor lineart. Not a very speedy artist, sadly enough. <: )
