This thread will get some hits I'm sure... I like your colors and compositions.
awesome stuff
big phil hale fan? awesome gorilla. is that your own take on M. d'Cease in the second painting? welcome to CA.org, your style is certainly a breath of fresh air. i can see you becoming quite popular very quickly. dont let the stardom get to your head![]()
The gorilla reminds me the rotten gorilla anthrax from requiem (comic from ledroit/mills dunno if you know that wonder). His white lips bugs me a bit.
Beautiful anyway.. keep posting dude![]()
Im not accusing you of anything, as its obvious you painted those yourself (very skillfully I might add), but I do find it wierd how liberally you are lifting from Foster. I love him too... uh.. I mean his work. Yes...
Foster actually went through much of the same thing I think, trying to make himself more visually distinct from his roots with Phile Hale and Rick Berry. If you look so much like someone elses work... why hire you? Why not hire them?
Lovely work by the way.
The attached images are by Jon Foster ( www.jonfoster.com ). The girl in the second actually has a companion with goggles as well, but I couldn't seem to find that image.
great work man
I have seen most of them on deviantart some time ago but didnt watch you
but your new stuff leaves the impressiont that it was a mistake to not watch you back than
anyways I really like your work and the painterly feel it has
and the way you mix your colors
please feel free to visit my website and Deviantart portfoilo

These are really nice! I'm feelin em!
Awesome stuff! Goodjob, woulda love to see more.
(strange, in one out of five thread somebody says: "Your work looks like Hale/Foster! Omfg!!!11" Nobody cares)
Yup, ya steped on some toes there. What in the chances of someone drawing the same huge gorilla (kong), and a woman with leather pants, I looked on Jons website and Raytoh and your most likely looking at the chick from Chronicles of Riddick.
Nice work man 5 stars.
This type of style is going around in art circles right now. It's not something directly lifted from Foster, it's more of an inspired look borrowed or elabored upon from many contemporary artists. There is nothing wrong adhering to a style that you like, especially when you are starting up and have yet to establish a strong identity.
I've been a fan of your work for quite some time now. Loved that piece you did a while back for Greg Titus's the Imaginaries (I think that's what it was called, the one with the Nazi bears, haha).
Saw your work in the Imaginary Friends book as well, tight stuff dude. Keep inspiring!
Hi all.~! Thanks for the comment. I was pretty worried that i wouldn't get any comment or anything. It turn out better than what i thought. Thanks Thanks Thanks. I'll try to post more. T_T *Tears of happiness.
Brittons >> Thanks.
midknight523 >> Thanks man.
stoph >> Big phil hale and foster fan. Thanks for the comment.
spookybabydoll >> Not very sure about the comic thu, I'll try to do a check at the comic stores. Thanks.
wassermelone >> Thanks for comment.I appreciated your comment and to tell you the truth, you are not the first person to say that. I'll try to post more and do feel free to comment. I am still seaching for my own style. Something i can call it my own but haven't have any luck at the moment. I was pretty trouble once, but one of my friend past encounter with a wise lecturer told me this. Art is about a constant seach for ourself. This seach will nvr stop and it is what make art interesting. It kind of changes my idea of stressing myself to find a style. I guess it will comes when it comes? Very zen. Haa.~ Makes me wonder if my friend lecturer is some kind of a zen master. Anyway. Pls feel free to comment. I'll try to post more stuff.
Nicolas Chapuis >> Thankz thanks.
stalsby >> Thanks man.~!
theQuill >> Thanks man. I'll try to post more.
Micaiah Nelson >> I think i did "kong" during the period when peter jackson annouced that he is remaking king kong and as i was working on this piece, foster pop up with a kong piece at concept art too. Haa. I was pretty surprise too. But i guess the saying of remaking kong got into some of our head?As for the design for the woman, i base that off foster design. Nothing to say about it. Just really feel like i need to paint the girl. T_T And i thought she will fit well with riddick by her side. But anyway thanks for the comment man.
Extollere >> Totally agree with what you are saying. Will try to seach for something more original as i go along the way. Thanks for the comment.
Monk2 >> Actually i like that piece too. Thanks. It's really happy to know that people like my works.Anyway, I have quit from Imaginary Friends. It's been.~ hmhmhm..~~ a few month already. Working under a group of people sometime just pull the creativity possibility away from some jobs. Came out to try the industry myself. Hope i can pull it off working alone.

Thanks again for the comment. You guys are great. Below are some more of my works. Feel free to comment.![]()
Some more "no style" random works. I seem to be, just doing things that happen to come along in my mind. Not sure if it's a good thing anot. Just going with the flow now.
Really good stuff, I love the colors and compositions. Great energy to your work!
Love the Akira picthe pill pattern is a nice touch.

Thanks guys.Below are some F.E.A.R Expansion Pack, Environmental Concept Art that i have been involve with when i was still working in Imaginary Friends Studio. Copyright of TimeGate Studio 2006.
With these additions to the thread, I voted 5 stars. Beautiful stuff man!
And I KNEW that girl was the same one![]()
I love the work and think Ray is very much his own artist. I look at some of this work and feel flattered that he may have been influenced by me and then envious that he is doing allot of it better than I would.
As for the tough woman painting and guy with goggles that was based off of a painting I did, well that woman (and other characters I painted for Dave's "The Uninvited" story) were designed by Dave Dorman and are part of a series of stories he has created. so in the end I was just following some one else's cool design.
Love the new posts by the way Ray, cool cool cool!
Jon foster
your akira artwork is absolutly great.. keep it up
I really enjoyed this stuff Ray. Why don't more of the IFS guys post here?
Sweet stuff. My favorite got to be the guy with the wolf painting.
(I wish some of the FEAR ones were available in desktop size. Something like 1920x1200.)
these are all very nice, and i remember the gorilla one from spectrum. as far as the originality of them i dont see it as a large issue, you are very talented regardless of your influences, which some people feel is too apparent. in any field of art the big names are always going to have others wanting to draw inspiration from, i pay attention to lots of comic artists and adam hughes and joe madureira have hordes of artists following in their foot steps, same with james jean. the people who work professionally and draw similar to the big names still have plenty of talent
Thanks for the comments guys and i need to say this but I am NOT IN IFS anymore, althought some of my work can be seen in their book. T_T I am working as a full time freelancer now and I keep giving people/client the wrong impression due to the IFS artbook. I hope this thread will help me clear up the misunderstanding.
wassermelone >> I can see that you are a foster Fan too. Haa.~
foster >> Thanks for the comment, Foster. To tell you the truth, i feel very happy and honor when people comment that i paint like you.
I really like how you compose your images, your colors. It's so full of life and ideas. I still have so much that i need to improve on and i am still in search of art preferences/ believe or some style that represent me more. Please feeel free to comment on the stuff i posted.

Matsign >> I think they are very busy with work and all. I have been out of IFS for a few months already so i'm not very sure. During my two years work there, i am always burn out when there is free time. It's really hard to face the com when you reach home after work. Guess that's one big reason they don't post often.
rituals >> Thanks. That is suppose to be wolverine but i guess the image is abit too small to tell who he is. The FEAR pieces. Which one are you lookin at? I can try to send it to you thru email or something? Let me know what you think.![]()
mikeorion22 >> Thanks man.
