    AvisNocturna, richart, maninmoon1, Mincx: Thanks!
Nonobot: Yeah, I should doodle digitally then my stuff would more likely get finished....
Aveh: Well, I'm trying to make enough for a BFA show, so it'll be pre-production stuff. Character paintings, a line up of the characters, a couple environments, a poster illustration, and a maquette sculpture.

Anyway, here's an environment painting, of the house that Jacques built(muahahahahaha bad jokes). It still needs a few tweaks here and there, but any comments/suggestions are welcome.

I think with the last piece I would just smooth out the foreground bush and the water. Theres a lot of contrast in those hard brushes so they draw a lot of attention. Id just smooth some stuff out, especially the water.

Im loving the rest of it. The texture on the boat is really nice.
A BFA show? Are you in your last year of University then? Impressive stuff.

Keep up the nice work man.

Love seeing the progression and development of all these interrelated ideas. You have some serious talent. This recent enviro makes me happy and I love the energy in the colors and texture.

Artists have such a magnificent gift...breathing life into something with just simple lines.

    surus, EBrown: Thanks!
HolyMane: Thanks, yeah I thought about reuploading them but they're sucky anyway...
PHATandy: A bunch of people have said the same things about the grass and water on the bottom of the picture, so I'll do something about that. Yeah, I'm hoping to graduate this December if I can get everything done. I've only got one week left, and A LOT to do still. It'll be VERY tight if I do get it done, working up to the last minute...

So I've finished up my painting of Jacque's dad. Now I've got the octopus, the dive suit, and a poster illustration. I might not get to the lineup.

    jeremygordon89, OmertA, CarlSpringer: Thanks!
zou: Thanks! Yeah, something like that, anywhere from 3-9 hours a week of figure drawing.

So I just barely got all my illustrations done for my BFA show, with a few minutes to spare before the show opened, literally! Anyway, here's how the characters turned out:

Man I really like Jacques Dad and the octopus.
My only little crit would be that youve lost lots of the interesting and unique details on the octopuses head when youve rendered it out. The sketch has a sort of menacing look to it and it all dissapears in the painting.
Great work regardless, hope you do well in your show and marking! Keep it up.

    OmertA: Thanks!
llex_paul: thanks, it seems kind of slow to me.
PHATandy: Thanks. Yeah, I agree about losing the menacing look. I didn't quite paint in the jagged face area because I thought it might get confusing, not to mention that I got terribly sick the weekend before the show opened and couldn't paint because I was so achy.
    theUNKNOWNsketcher: sure!

So I'm super glad you guys dig my characters, character design's been a tough area for me. Well, the show went well, and I'm done with school now too! Now I can chill out and draw some of my own stuff for a little while. Here's the final paintings of the environments I did for my show, and a "noodle doodle" which are doodles that I noodled the shit out of and turned in to a picture.

By the way, I have a website now.

FootstepsBeckon: haha thanks, sometimes it doesn't come out so blissfully.
    Blue: Thanks!
    surus: I'll try!

So now that school's over, I'm gonna start binge painting. I kinda forgot how much I looooooooove oil painting. I had a lot of fun last night with this 4.5 hour still life of a skull. Some time I'll get around to scanning in some other sketches from the past 6 months...

I haaaaaaate cylinders. Here's a quick (2.5hour) still life I did a couple days ago. Gonna try to do a simple still life like this everyday, and maybe move in to some more complicated stuff.

    Thanks guys!
zou: Thanks! Each painting took about 20 hours, give or take a couple hours. I think I spent the least time on the octopus.

So the painting a day thing didn't work out quite as I hoped, but I did churn several out. I've been drawing/doodling/figuredrawing/studying a lot more than painting, some time I'll scan some stuff in. I did a digital figure painting yesterday though, so here it is. Took about 2 hours:

So it's been quiet again. Good news! My Jacques and the Beanstalk boat painting was nominated for a student scholarship at the Society of Illustrators! Better keep my fingers crossed, hopefully I'll get some money this year. As for some pictures, I've got some figure drawings and oil studies for now. Been doing a bunch of figure drawing lately.
