    Hello there Peetaer!! Long time no see, huh?
    So sorry, for not visiting, but i was so busy, this last month in particular.

    And how MUCH i have missed!! You really worked on those figures of yours, in particular, and i see sore really nice nature studies too.
    But i really like your figures, and the fact that you tried out different coloured paper too. And by browsing your 25th page, i saw really nice rhythm and quite interesting angles.
    Your digitals are great too, but i am a real fan of these traditionals of yours. So i can't really critique on those;
    on your digitals, i think you should concentrate more, and when you choose your colour scheme be careful that your highlight and shadow aren't the same saturation level;

    On your last page, i really like the tree studies you did, and the figure too, but it sort of scares me. Perhaps the idea is to good for these vibrant colours haha

    Loving the recent inks! Beautiful toned surface!!

    But... I'm wondering if the skull actually has that many teeth.. it looks like there's just a bit too much going on with the mouth

    BlackDelphin Hey there! Thank you for all the kind words. And thanks for the tips on the digital painting
    Gwendz Thanks again!
    amarryth Thank you so much! Haha, yeah, I totally added more teeth than there should be. I fucked up my proportions in the beginning so when it came time to add the teeth I realized I had to add more to fit it into the space available.

    Peetaer,

    I have to say, even though its grotequely disproportionate, that skull is AWESOME in terms of the technique, the texture, the level of detail. On of the advantages of being a concept artist is that you can have some artistic liscense with proportionality and anatomy if it suits the subject. More people will appreciate good rendering a compelling composition and overlook other flaws.

    I've noticed in many of your digital conceptual pieces, you're suffering from the 'thick forms syndrome' that I see from time to time. What I mean is that everything has the look of being molded out of play-dough or has a kind of 'plastic toy' proportionality.

    I really don't see the same thing in your traditional media concepts or your studies from life, so I'm guessing the problem has something to do with the technique of how you're building up your forms. Maybe you should take the approach of sketching your ideas by hand and then scanning them in and rendering them digitally, at least for a while.

    Also, when inventing forms, try to avoid having very bulky edges or surface details...and always use things from LIFE to inspire your 'form language'.

    Hope that helps.

    i like the least peice some suggestions though, his arms and legs are too small. Actually i think the proportions my be wrong throughout the whole painting more or less. But dont get me wrong it looks good, just try and catch that stuff asap.

    Krato Thanks for the feedback man but that's not an original drawing. It's a copy so it was the original artist's decision to mess with the proportions.

    how long did it take you? Who was it that pose for you? Did they pose through the entire time you sketched them? sorry for all the questions ^^

    Gwendz Hey there, glad you liked it. I don't mind the questions at all. Please, feel free to ask me any questions you want. The pose of 3 hours long but with 5 minute breaks every 20 mins so it wasn't exactly 3 hours long. The model was a fellow student who volunteered to pose since there was not going to be an official model there that day.

    miycko Yes, you're quite right. Thanks for the feedback

    BlackDelphin And I'm glad to see that you're checking in here so regularly. Thank you for your kind words.

    I currently have no updates to show right this moment but I have loads of stuff that I am working on right now. Perhaps a little too much. Thanks again everyone!

    Whoa... never been in here before? Guess not... went back a few pages. Thought I had.

    Oh well.

    One thing I should point out. I think this guy is missing a little something

    Anyway... I agree with Bludhund. GREAT skull. What you need is "Mass Conception" (yet another art "buzzword")

    But I think it fits what you're after; your studies are killer, and your imagination stuff lags a bit. Bludhund talks about 'how you build up your forms'... and I believe that relates directly to "mass conception". In Mentler's "Book of Bones" thread, he has several plates devoted to mass conception of the large masses in the body--really excellent.

    (This is the last page... they're in that thread, somewhere) Going to be using this stuff myself too.

    But you really have some great stuff going on. Will be watching your thread!
    And not just because of the shiny asses that miycko mentions

    Thinking connects desire with creation.
    How good are you?
