themissinglink: Many thanks. The figure looking off the page is definitely part of the concept - I'm not worried about the composition on there so much, I've got it all figured out to resolve anything uncomfortable. The figure is bugging my though, I'll have to get to work on her again. Big thanks for dropping by!
Coinpurse: Thanks bro! Got the pm, you get mine? Managing the thing? You got some killer new stuff in your sb btw, keep swinging it!
Peetear: Thanks! I'm also from Pretoria, though I hope to get out of here asap. Thanks for dropping by, definitely cool to see more South Africans!
AmontilladoAg: Much appreciated. Think you are right about her arms, there's definitely something wonky there. Will check it out. cheers for stopping in!
Ignominious: haha thanks!
Felt bad for not updating - lots of cool stuff happening which I cannot or should not divulge just yet. So, not to make this post a complete bump, here are some colour sketches I did a while back. No more than 30 min on each of there, most of them are probably around 15-20 min. crits always appreciated!
Hey Brendan, didn't know you had a new SB. My first impression is soaking in your great sense of color. Every tone and mix hits a nice chord.
You're becoming a king of these speedies. As previously stated, lighting & the textures make the images sing. The SP has a nice watercolory feel. Warm, perhaps some hints of blues, turquoise influence as planes change. But non-the-less.....nicely done!
Only crit to add to the girl image with moon, is that her torso lacks a little definition. Seems a bit bulgy. I would also venture to say, that if her hair is stylized, perhaps her skirt would echo that more graphic feel as well, leaving only her figure organic as a contrast.
P.S. Thanks for your regular visits to my lackluster SB. I enjoy reading your comments, always well thought out and kind. Your books have so much creative and very personal approaches to content. Am jealous.
I know this SB will be teeming with wondrous stuff.

bhanu: Many thanks, assimus pattus appreciate the drop-in bro!
Aztec! lackluster?! LACKLUSTER?!! LACK!! LUSTER!!? For once I don't entirely agree with your post haha . Your book is anything but lackluster, ma'am. Big thanks for the crit on the girl in post 4, it's the crit I've been waiting for. I'll get to fixing asap. Many thanks for your droppings-by, I always appreciate and enjoy reading your comments immensely.
paperX: Thanks dood, cool to see you around! Appreciate the kind words. I do have msn, but rarely get on, Internet is not so friendly to south africans anymore . Throw me a pm though and I'll add you on!
another speedbump: went through a windmill fad one morning, no more than about 40 min on each (ref'd of course):
Great stuff Brendan! I really like the first one in the last update, the colours work very well, give it a very distinct look. Also enjoying the abstract environments in the previous posts, enjoyed them a lot in your old thread as well.
