Thread: My Sketchbook
November 15th, 2007 #1
I am drawing and sketching away with pencil, pen and what ever I can find
to draw with. I create a lot of graphic works which makes people think and reflect
upon their actions. I am working mainly in flash because once I drew it I might
want to animate it, which is why I stick with flash as an intuitive and simple drawing
tool which converts my also high res 300dpi pix.
Please take a look at my newest social awareness program and maybe submit your works!
I am drawing also nudes and perspective but I am not in school anymore so I mainly post
ideas, concepts. YOUR FEEDBACK in composition, colors life drawing is highly appreciated!

Well first thing, Iven WELCOME to the group! Second, never put down the pencil. You're right, there is a lot of room for improvement. At least you recognize in yourself that you are looking to get better. The biggest thing that I think is necessary in your education is reference. Find some photos of things you think are cool and start drawing from them. Since these are sketching exercises, don't worry about recreating the whole image. Just pick a spot and recreate it. Don't trace, but study it, how it looks and how you think it feels, and how the light hits it. Always draw, always always always. Even today, I try to draw till I fall asleep. If you know you are putting EVERYTHING into your drawing, you will get better. But it's not fast and it's not easy, you have to want this more than anything.
I have said this earlier today, but I like it a lot so I'm making it my mantra, "Art without fear is art without limits." Never be affraid of making a mistake or a bad drawing, we learn from our mistakes and we grow from them. You need to fail before you can succeed, that way you know why you've succeeded and it makes it that much sweeter.

post more of your studies. Are you also studying from books? Anatomy? There is plenty of free books online. You can also copy/trace the drawings from other artists to understand how they achieve the look that you like in their work.
And I think this thread doesn't belong into CC.

Hey cool start, also VERY WELCOME!!!
But, i think it would be alot better if you started a sketchbook in witch you prensent ur work.
Anyway nice sketches. I like drawing with ballpenn as well, like when i'm in the classroom for example, and i'm getting bored, you all know those situations when u can't resist drawing some tiny things between ur notes xD hehe
I'd look for some anatomy books though, you can also find alot of websites that have alot of nice references for body and motion drawing! also for landscapes, cartoon, you name it!
Keep sketching and doing studies, maybe do some light studies as well, these come in handy when u think about drawing scenes.

Hey, some critiques:
First of for the hands:
Really take some time to observe what it is your drawing, just draw it out mentally
Then put pencil to paper
1. Get the basic shape of the hand right, this is the most important part, take your time measure and get it accurate. Watch out for the proportions of the hand and focus on the whole not details
2. Start building up the hand, fingers, start getting detail in now that you've got the proportions right this step is much easier
I done a little step by step:
When your sketching try to sketch using minimum lines get the shapes in from the first strokes this will surley help.
Other than that keep the sketching from life up
