    Hi there,

instead of delving into giving critiques on the image ideas I would like to hint on a few technical aspects:

With nearly all of these you have focus problems. You played with selective sharpness alright, but you missed getting something in focus in those shots, too.

    Example:

you should not have taken the wind effect pics on that day.

    Why?

I guess it was like this:

    - dull light (=long exposure or very small f-stop, which in turn means large aperture and shallow depth of field/DOF)... in both cases focusing is getting hard. the rule is that you can properly hold your camera still during exposure times which correspond to the reciprocal of your lense (e.g.: with a 28mm lense you can hold up to 1/30, with a 50mm lense only up to 1/60, with a 135mm lense up to 1/125 or better 1/250)

If you opened the aperture to get shorter exposure times you narrowed the area with sharp focus down.

Now add wind to the whole thing.

So, I think you missed the focus there because of severe camera shake.

    remedy:
    - use a tripod. Will allow for securely held longer exposures, but will introduce another kind of unsharpness: movement of your subject.
Opening the aperture to catch the flags without apparent movement costs DOF. Either you bring your own light to a shot like this or you wait for a better day.

With the bottle and the cell phone pics you went too close to your subject. Every lense has a minimum distance it has to keep to an object to allow for it to be included in its DOF. If you want to get that close you are shooting in macro range which you can do with a wide range of technical gear. Search for a thread with the keywords "macro workshop" and you will find more info.

    Remedy:

    - move away a bit til you get the nearest object sharply in focus.
    - or get macro gear.

    Keep shooting. And posting...

Thx for the information. I did the shots with a digital cam and as you told every lens has his nearest point i'm going to find that out.

I'm looking around for a canon eos 10D or 20D what should help me out already a bit better with lenses but i'm going to shoot my first pics with the otherone until i find one..

Oh, btw since i had to work the night this week i took another pic not really on focus or motion but i found that one pretty nice however ^^

    Airplane:
