    Woohoo,I found coro's sketchbook!Awesome!
I still didn't look at all the pages, but you are still as awesome as you are in your videos!(BTW thanks a lot for taking the time of doing all of those!)
I really liked the video, the alien guiding the person in the wheelchair was quite funny!
I saw people asking you to look at their sketchbook,I would ask you too but my sketchbook isn't something to be fun to look at,and you surely have a lot of better things to do

So thanks for everything, keep updating your SB,and make more videos please!(I don't know if it is possible but I think that a lot of beginners like me would be happy to have a PS fundamentals DVD from MB)

whatup yall, hows it going? happy 2010!! i hope everyone had a great holiday. i know i did....i finally got around to scanning some little selected drawings from my rough book...nothing impressive really, mostly little life studies, but sometimes its these little drawings i tend to like the most... i think because i learn the most valuable lessons from drawing. lately when i draw , i'm finding myself less concerned with rendering, and more about placement and proportion. thats where i feel like i have the hardest time. but im learning slowly. anyway, just wanted to update with...something.
great stuff happening in the sketchbooks lately. i gotta try to stay active in here!!!

    hugs

NIce coro! Yeah I rekon going straight ink and concentrating on line helps helps to make you consider every line beofre you put it down.
I bought your alla prima portrait vid. I learnt heaps but gonna take some time to apply it haha. I really end up with a mess with oils at the moment.

In this forum (& sub-forum) I see lots of fun, joyous, warm conceptart/illustration - but rarely do I stumble upon something I'd call art or such; but I always feel that weird tingling sensation of something more than just joy, well thought out design, or simple craft. Rather when I come over your work it hits that hidden nerv deep inside, it's something deep and pure.

I won't even try to describe it, or analyse it, out of fear of making something so wonderful mundane and understandable - thank you for providing us with your work, I'm truly grateful.

    Well well...

    Beautiful work EC!

It's not only your relaxed and daring use of colours & shapes, but your subjects are really what make it stand out. I have to say the dog (I think) is the one that I keep going back to. I keep thinking to myself "so he was sitting in his studio one day and it dawned on him - OMG, A really buff hairless dog with a hamburger shaped head shot from the rear so you can get a graphic gawk at his muscular ass!"

Whatever it is that makes you tick dude - it works on paper!

It's always pleasure to see some new updates in this thread. Seeing how people learn is sometimes more motivating and informative to than just watching tight finished illustrations.

ah man, video short was super cool, wheelchair scene was my favorite. I'm really digging your pen sketches as well, nice amount of detail with low amounts of information.

so its been way too long since ive updated in here...i have been unbelievably busy for some reason, and any spare time ive had has been allocated to the comic, so its been difficult to sketch anything lately

i attended a "figurative show" over at john pence gallery last night, and when i got home i was so inspired i decided to play hooky from the comic, and bang out a self portrait. ive been meaning to do one lately, since i haven't shaved or cut my hair in like 4 months, and im starting to look like a crazy person . it was a lot of fun painting all that hair! i was pretty happy with this one, particularly in the eyes, by really softening the edges and understating them, i feel like they're less clumsy than how i usually do. ive been paying more attention to edges lately..that shit's so tricky! but an awesome challenge. im committing myself to trying to understand them better this year!

it also occurred to me that i had a few of head paintngs i havent posted, so i figured id post em too. most of these are painted in two three hour sessions from a live model, so they're a little more refined than some of the previous ones. sometimes it works out...other times it doesnt...but we gotta keep trying, right?

hehe..hope everyone is doing good, seems liek theres some great stuff being posted these days. i gotta come in here and reply to questions and comments at some point! but in the meantime, thanks for commenting, and for looking. AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!

    warmest hugs

When I thought I'm staring at Sargent paintings... the self portrait strikes a nice blanace of loose and tight strokes.

First I was surprised by the quality upgrade between some of your posts - but later I saw some of the early great drawing stuff in this thread. I like it much more than the oil stuff. Thanks for sharing !

Your work's gotten a lot more precise, Mr. Kaufman, they your faces still have that breathing quality. The first one's a self portrait? If so, nice beard! Just like W M Chase.

Great self portrait. Your oils are amazing--I just want to grab my paints and start working away. Very inspiring stuff.

You have your own folder in my inspiration folder. Great stuff. I loved your interview with Bobby Chui (I only just saw it today)it was unbelievably inspiring.
Great work. Your brushstrokes seems very unique, I have seen nothing similar.

man, you're starting to look like your comics...that beard is outta control
sure is a nice painting though...in comparison the others look kinda dull; i think it's the accentuated lightsource, in comparison to the full frontal on the others. with that selfportrait, you're starting to rival carl dobsky...
