Really awesome mate. Just one question. Is that a tattoo on his face? Or head piece design? If not tattoo then perhaps make it a bit thicker. Seeing it looks really tight to his face.

I looked through the first four pages of this thread, and wow. It's enough to make a guy want to hang up his pencils and go back to straight up web design. Your pencil work is incredible, and you've really nailed the body language communicates those non-verbal messages. I like your colour work too, but I've been paying close attention to the way you do the pencils. You don't seem to feel the need to blend every shadow, and I need to learn when to blend and when to do something else like crosshatching or something.

I realize I've got three years of Mischievouslittleelf work to catch up on, and I have work in the morning, so I stopped. But I wanted to point out that I liked the sketch you did of the different gladiators, and of the hot-tub German with the gut protector. Nicely done!

    Very inspiring work, my friend!

Really cool thread, I like the newest piece. The rendering is sweet!
    But since there's so many asspats I have to step out of the crowd a bit;
Depending on the material that jacket is made of, this might vary. But - I can see that there's some pretty strong highlights on it. If it was made out of a lot of cotton, there wouldn't be that kind of highlight. However, I can also find this highlight on the left (his right) sleve, they shouldn't be there.

If it's made out of cotton, there should be shadow and mostly middle tone and barely any highlight.

But I'm being picky! It's super sweet.

edit: I would take what I said with a grain of salt btw, I could be wrong.

Cool stuff dude... but err im a bit unsettled that you're not even mentioning your inspiration.. i don't want to sound like an ass cause you're learning, but still :/ Don't get me wrong though, you're doing good. Just a bit bugging to see no names at all.

    Hey folks

Sorry for the severe lack of updates as of late, but I have been busy, and really stressed about a lot of stuff, but for this time it ended really well, and I landed a job at Volta, starting January next year. Woooooo!

So in the meantime I have been doing a bit of freelance and stuff that I cannot share, but there should be some stuff around the old server I can show. Also, check out the two latest IFX mags, I am in both (Real name is Even Mehl Amundsen, for refference)

    So thanks and seeya later

I'd probably substitute coffee for some good ol pints but, thats just me! The others are all suitably good brain candy thats for dang sure. Thanks for sharing these man! Looking forward to the newest IFX, peep what you've got to share. Keep it up man, always nice seeing your updates. The lighting on the first chick is definitely interesting. and congrats on the job!

Hey Even, great stuff as usual. Not to flog your thread here, dude, but concerning Daniel's remark about mentioning inspirations, I'd have to disagree. I mean sure, if people ask what your inspirations are then of course mention them. But it's not like you have to mention it for every piece of art that you do. Unless you heavily relied on a particular piece of art for reference I can't imagine why it's necessary. You'll be hard pressed to find an artist who isn't inspired from others. It's how art evolves.

Do you like the tag I made for your sketchbook? because it's quite true. Your work is really moving forward, great stuff recently, really pushed out of the box.
In general I really adore your work, love looking at it and have learnt a lot from going through your sketchbook.

Those last two update? Killer, absolute badass. From detail, to colour to technique, it's all supereb.
I saw all your work in IFX, great stuff, the news feature and the double paged artist feature. I was like "Omg, it's Even!" but I didn't get the time to congratulate you on both features. Now I guess I can add the job congratulations to it as well, great going and I hope the studio realize what an amazing concept artist they've just aquired.

One last thing, what Dan was talking about with the inspiration, I don't think he meant just your general what you makes you draw etc. It's more that some of your pieces are very inspired by a lot of artist on the forum but you don't mention the fact that for that particular piece you drew inspiration from them.
Funny thing is I realize from your answer is that you don't see it as a big deal, which is very cool and makes it clear that you're not copying and trying to hide it just it's something that you don't see as bad, which of course it's not. So no trouble there in my opinion, just make sure you mention it if a particular piece is heavily inspired by another artists', so there's no heat or problems.

All in all, badass work and you continue to be one of my favourite and most inspiring artist.

    Looking forward to more
