Ooh, texture in the cloak. I like it. How long do these usually take you, and do you have any references for armor and such?

Wow Pix, that last one is really living up to your moniker. Looks like you are materializing the figure with pixels of paint building it up in 3D. Maybe you should try flatting it up?

Today was absolutely fantastic! I learned a bunch about colour rendering and also about presentation. So here is the result

Staticpen: For the most part I work out of my head. Sometimes I get lighting reference, and I have about a million pictures from different occations of armour and weapons and such. Most medieval

cout<mecha: heh you might be right there. I was avtually just sketching here, and I most often use a basic round brush with both guages set at 100 so thats why it becomes a little bulgy at times. And what on earth is a moniker?

Here is another concept WIP, the medic. He still lacks some details, some colour and some BLOOD, but he is looking up^^

    localfatheaded: thanks man

Reject-d: Thanks man, yours is quite nice too. I am 19, going on 20, and I attend Einar Granum School of Arts, in Oslo. I wanna get into the Atelier though

Early morning selfportrait. 39 minutes EXACTLY! Might refine a bit more later, or just do another one and NOW I shall go to school.

tnx for posting in my sb

don't really know what sort of pointers i could give you...you seem to be heading in a good direction allready....

but you might want to explore edge definition a bit...it seems like you have a preference for cleary defined areas....safe containment and division of masses, so to speak. this is helpful at early stages, but your art might benefit from loosening up of certain shapes and transitions. conscious use of edges is as powerful a tool as value control.

here's a link that might be benficial:

Here is the finished Medic, he turned out prery nice I say. Also I forgot to upload the finishing tweak on the junkie. So here it is.

School just started up, and so we are hauling ass over there. Preping canvases so we can start painting tomorrow. Also I have started a small digital revolusjon at school, introducing PS into anatomy class, and next time we have live painting, I will do the same there

    Now it is STUDYTIME!

the medics arm is a bit stiff...

also i think it would go alongways if you brightened up the medic's face because you put alot of detail that will not be seen.. here i brightened his face a bit but still keeping the dark texture of his clothes..

there looking good buddy keep it up!

Reject-D: thanks for that mate. It was a nice idea, and i would embrace it if the idea of the sketch was to show him of as a persona, but he is a class characters so in this sketch it was the body and the gear that was in center. I thank you for the input though, and I will mark it down.

    Espenboi: Thanks mate

and im confused on your last statement.. are you referring to his arm? or lightening him up? cause if you do lighten him up you will see alot more detail that way! but its your call im just her to crit and suggest!
Looks great though if you would want to talk on aim mine is

You have a wonderful sense for putting down color. I do prefer the lighter changes to the character's face, but on the other hand it's a neat design choice to have the support character's face in shadow so as not to have it the focal point. Can't wait for updates.

Geez, you paint a lot. hahahaha. I like that hand print on the medic's clothing. Nice touch. That self portrait in 39 minutes was also really solid for being so quick, man. Do what you do, man!

I guess it is in due time that I gave some replies.

Reject-D : Thanks man! Lot's of fun talking to you

KidApe: Thanks man. More is comming in the morning. And yeah, the little things like that kinda put's the main folks in better light.

UnSharpened: Thanks man, you have improved tremendously as well!

    Triggersamy: Cheers!

xinleh: Merci mon ami. I am kinda new to the colour stuff, but it is a fun thing to be new at

staticpen: Well thanks, but I feel I should do more. The SP felt good at the time. Looking back it seems kinda redundant

zulu: More will come ASAP mate^^ Cheers.

So I my reasons for not giving you any tangible evidence of productivity is that I have been of the laptop a bit. I started an ala prima still life today wich looks promising, and last night R.E.M was in town and I was at the concert from 18:00 til about 02:00.

Those guys know how to put on a show

Ooooh, those are some nice thumbs, man. That color enviro looks really great. I dig the saturation and value choices. It's very... almost whimsical. heh. You're not so bad at enviros, man!
