The annual trip to the Balmoral show. Large Black pig and piglets, and a Portland lamb. Only an on-site photo of the latter sketch, because the lamb's owner asked for a price.
Fairly pleased with it myself, too. At the least, it didn't go as wonky as other watercolour sketches. Or attempts to be James Gurney.

Some sketches from a Forthill Farm open day. Some went better than others.
It turns out the owner was one of the rare breed farmers admiring the the Portland lamb sketch above. A friendly fellow: had a wee chat with him, and with that and this, I was invited to come down and sketch livestock at any time. Nice! A bit of a trip, but it beats hanging over random fences in what some farmers take as a suspicious manner...

I renamed this sketchbook; not just because of the opportunity for a bad joke, but because I've been thinking of hoiking myself up and going back to basics, learning or relearning a few things. Drawing, painting, colour, perspective, composition, and peering surreptitiously at people trying to enjoy their whopper meals. Maybe it'll stick and mean more posts and progress here. I hope so.

Also, Acrocanthosaurs. Top inexpertly based on a Scott Hartman skeletal.

I really like your realistic animal sketches, specially the animated
illustrations, when they run and dive, sprint and fly. Amazing !
