Wonderful work you have in here! There is not much to criticise, you work very efficient, and clean. What you can work on is some deeper expression in your imaginary paintings.
(Well your last self portrait is awesome!)
But for instance your last painting, here the mimic of the woman says to me: Don´t i look great?
    - it doesn´t fit into a storytelling illustration for me.

    Nevertheless your work is gold!

Aw, man, I feel so good about myself for a couple of minutes and then I see this awesome shit and what am I supposed to do?!

No, but seriously. Your line work makes me want to put it under my pillow. I think it would be interesting to force you into a situation where you couldn't rely on it, though... It's so nice and clean that I wonder what would happen if I... took it away! >D Bwa haha!

... >>; Anyway, yeah, I was just stopping by, but I'll have to subscribe. I added you on deviantart, but... I am never there, so. This is better.

Hey, guys! Thanks for all the crits, I really appreciate them. I got to thinking, and talking with my CA mentor about how part of my stiffness issue is lack of practice. We decided weekly assignments were necessary to keep me on my toes and back into the habit of really pushing my drawing, my work, and myself. So, my assignment this week was 10 faces including two self-portraits, one of which had to be from life. I'm feeling energized, I learned alot... still have far to go. But it's a start, right?

    So! Sketches...

    Jessica,

Very, very good work. You're using a style that I dearly love - the line work with rendering. Always gets good results in my opinion.

    Comments:
    1st page (with clown):
The clown is stunningly done. I keep going back to this one because of the expression. The second face below somehow looks off - I think somewhere along the jaw, or the vertical line of face - slightly off balanced. Not sure.

    Second page (with tenticles).
The self portrait is captivating. You have a real talent with eyes that I haven't picked up on previously.

    Third page (with the herb)
I like the stylization that you did on the second face. Especially in the hair.

    Forth page (with the Monkey)
I love the expression on the little girl's face. You captured that very well.

    Fifth page: Nice corset

Really like the composition of the last one. These really all are top notch. I'm wishing I could crit more, but nothing specifically is coming to me, other than just a general comment about maybe filling in the hair on some of them.

    Cheers,
    ~Oreg.

    Happy Birthday!

A friend has a birthday coming up that he wasn't too happy about. I think that's only because of a lack of presents and cake. Presents and cake always make it better. So, I did my best to give both...

It's early because I got REALLY into the painting. Learned some new things, I'm fairly pleased with it at this point, though I think I will tweak it more. I kinda accidentally made her look like me... ish. Oops? Gotta work on those faces still...

The last batch was very great, you must be proud that your pushing yourself after seeing good results!? I dont have much to crit on if your looking for it, you have confident lines and the nice shape/style integration into the hair here and there is neat!

The paintings looking great. I think painting the letters in a variety of subtle cool color might work nicely...where did you get the wallpaper like bg? You still haven't quite maxed out your highlight potential on it so keep it in mind to bring out the areas you want

Slash - Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it...
    Viking Raider - thank you!
Jakers - Thanks for the crit, will def keep in mind to push the highlights. The texture is from a baroque wallpaper pattern, I keep a library of things like that to use in my work. Thank you!

This is my finished (?) CHOW for this week -- #90: Farmer Thicket -- I didn't think I would get it done, this one was HARD because I'm more into busty, half naked ladies (obviously). But what is life, and a life of art, no less, if one does not push one's boundaries. C&C welcome... on to the next...

I love your CHOW entry! I think you've really captured the essence good ol' redneck men. I would've loved to have seen the Airleen Communicator rendered in all of its splendor.

I hope your friend enjoyed the birthday present! If you're still working on it, I'd check the perspective on the cake. The curve seems a little off. Anyway, cool stuff! Your sketches are lovely, it'd be fantastic to see more

Awesome stuff Jessi. I love the little patterns you throw in. Makes it very interesting. You seem to draw eyes a smidge large at times, it's stylistic I know, but I thought I read you were aiming for realism. The cake looks... TASTY. I wish it was my birfday! "No Intrance" cracked me up!

stoph - hey, thanks alot! Adam is awesome, though I'm not sure I'd call him an influence - I go more for guys like Mucha, Elvgren, Rachkam, etc. I did love that Power Girl cover, though, it was stunning.
KPetrasko - I see what you mean about the cake, thank you! Much appreciated!
Villa - Aww, thanks! (those are my eyes ) I really appreciate it, man! More goods coming soon (I hope)
Mr-Joe - Yeah, all from reference, mostly photos, some from life. Thanks!
Mark - That's what I'm here for, to make you laugh I had been seeing the eyes getting out of hand, you're right, will try and reign it in some.
    thedeath - Thank you
Diphallia - Thanks a bunch! She is one of my favorites, too.
    toubab - Thank you!
Pistol - I know,I know! I'm need to work on my guys more... I will, promise.

mmm, visual candy, I love your colours and the fantastical feel to your work. The patterns you incorperate really compliment the pieces well, highlights for me are your avatar pic, the harp girl and the pencil sketch just up there of the girl with the taped nipple....I'll be back
