Browsing the amazing works in the fine arts thread has finally got me posting some work.. I'd been meaning to post for awhile but for one reason or another I procrastinate.
(Lotsa respect for David Kassan(and all the other trad painters) unfortunately my work isn't so epic in terms of emotion and refinement)
Still attempting new things and trying different approaches.. hmm I just deleted a pile of rambling regarding how I'm not fond of alot of these, suffice to say that next time round they'll be better.
Yeah so, theres a bit of variation here, hopefully something will tickle your fancy.
Oh and I've updated my sketchbook with some recent life studies and sketchwork...

Thanks for sharing your new stuff! You're noticably more advanced with color now. I wish the photos were a bit better; you could actually fix the camera distortion just using photoshop.
Very nice work... Sometimes a little complicated color/design wise for my tastes maybe. I really love the very last one. The drawing is very nice on that and the design works well. That one and the one of the woman in the garden looking right in profile are the strongest I think.
..I love the colours and textures in your paintings - thanks for sharing!
Love them, your stuff reminds me of Turner...
by the way, all females? Ever do masculine form? Just curious...nothign against whats here....
I love the color sense. Nice translucency.
I'm a big fan of your oil paintings. I love the balance of sponteniety and polish.
Always nice to see you post, Lukias.
These are all fantastic,
but there is something about that last one I just love.
The drapery is handled with such ease, yet reads so well.
I think the palette also reminds me of John LaGatta a lot, one of my favorite painters.
do you have a standard palette you'd mind sharing with us?
- Dan Dos Santos
Love your works, man, all of them. And your avatar too
"I'm a fuel injected suicide machine. I am the rocker, I am the roller, I am the out-of-controller!"
awesome style.. i love that acidy color pallette you use.. and the flesh tones all look great... good work!
I absolutely frickin' love these! You have just the right mix of rough and polished (for my tastes anyway). You say the next time 'round will be better? Well, I can't wait!
that last one is a brain melter.
great job Lukias!
Jolly nice work. Slightly loose for my taste but beautiful even so.
nice work man.
there is a thread in the fine art section for nominees for the new fine art main page we are building. plz take a peek if u get a chance. you would be most welcome.

Hey thanks alot guys, always appreciate the feedback
Ethax - I'd give it a shot if I had PS.. I think I'm the only member without it!.
Britton - Yeah interestingly those two have the most subdued palettes.. I think I need to let go of some of the contrasting and garish colours.
Rabid Peanut - Turner??? I'd love to see what you're seeing! Yeah I should start painting males.. (you just reminded me of a painting I finished last week.. posted below) I've stuck with women because they are easier to sell! Women and men appreciate the female form whereas men just ain't so pretty. But I'm quite keen to incorporate more males into my paintings for sure. I have a mate coming over tomorrow.. gonna put one of those massive Davy Crocket hats on him.. so he looks like a trapper. Should be interesting.
DSillustration - haha, I was dreading that question! Heres where my total lack of proffesionalism shows. My palette is a hodge podge mess of often random colours.. .I'll chuck in samples from art shops plus I use about 5 different brands(so three cobalt blues that are all different) and variations on a colour if I can't find the one I want.
My most used would be:
Transparent Red Oxide (Everyone should try this I think, its a 'must have')
Transparent Maroon Oxide
Cadmium red (Hue mostly)
Cobalt blue (Hue)
Titanium white (about to try a titanium/zinc mix)
but at any one time I may have all of these on there aswell..
Old Holland Magenta
Australian gold green
Spectrum Green Light
Looking over Aaron C's limited palette thread has me thinking about going back to basics for a multitude of reasons. One being that muted tones simply look fantastic but for the most part it'll teach me how to apply paint without the complication of colour/bling
Jason - Sure man I'll do that. Cheers
Rabid Peanuts post reminded me of this which I did last week.. one of my parents friends... my first painting with a male in it.. I think.
About 8 hours all up I'd say.
Sweet, really like most of these.
Your got some nicely vibrant colors here. Full of (e)motion, great job!
awesome buddy the 2nd one and the last one of the girl lying down are fantastic
Some nice work here. I like that you experiment.
one thing I notice is ( and this might be because of the camera flattening things out ) is that your lights often seem too spread out over the entire picture.
I miss the fall of light sometimes.
