    Hi everyone,

    I'm new here, although I've been a guest here for some months. I'm 17 and I'm following Digital Arts and Entertainment at school.
    Now that I've bougth a scanner I thought it would be a good idea to start with my own sketchbook.

    I've started drawing 3 months ago so please give me advice and good crits

    Edited: for other picture ^^
    I'll upload my first posts tomorrow

    hey welcome to CA....i agree with Dstudio that u should get some inspiration...it helped me a lot...and drawing from life just whatever you see just try and draw....try using charcoal to draw a lass of water and try to get all of the values right...its really hard (draw what your eyes see and not what your brain makes you see) try and get some shading going, even if its just copying someone elses artwork, but try and get good definition between darks and lights.... just keep drawing

    Dstudio, grundybug; trying to get some inspiration but it's hard for me.
    When I have some time left, i'll try some life drawings.

    Meanwhile; Some work for school. We had to go outside and sketch some buildings, just the basic forms;

    Hey Lyno, Good start to a sketchbook, you made the first steps on a long road, the best way to continue now is listen to the crits you get and try to apply them to each new piece you try. I would offer two areas for some improvement, and they would be tonal range, i.e. how much black and white and all the shades between (limit yourself to nine shades for now) and also line weight (that is how thick some lines are and how thin others are also). Anyhoo's Keep up the good effort and keep posting, you be there in no time :-)

    Thx RandAlThor.

    I will make some variations in the line weight.
    Also trying to get the shades right. These previous works were done with 3 markers, I'll try shading with a pencil next time.

    I'll post some more work soon, thx

    A new sketch and a question (see last image):

    Which of those 4 do you think is the best (-> good composition, interesting subject, ...) or maybe you have some good suggestions for a better concept?

    Thx
