    Oil painting illustrations dump

    It's been a while so here's a bit of a painting dump.

I'm still building my new illustration portfolio after making the switch from digital. I've got a bit of a steady gig w/ this gallery rep that demands all these skinny white girls in turn of the century environments with no faces. It barely pays the rent and is quite limiting but helps my technique/speed. Meanwhile i'm working on the stuff i wanna really pursue, building clients and talking to a rep. I apologize for all the single figure and girls. I'm working on a Radiohead piece that should be a bit more dynamic.

This freelance illustration game is no easy one but can be quite rewarding.

    cheers!

The PJ Harvey piece is really strong.
Be careful of your edges, and don't be afraid to really get some paint on there.
You, me and T. Schane should form some sort of club.

haha awesome! I work ultra thin with "glazes." I use quotes because after poking around on the internet i'm learning people have different definitions of what proper glazing is. I learned most of what i do now from Shawn Barber at Ringling, experience and e-mailing painters I admire.

I'm finding as my confidence ans speed grows i get a little thicker with my strokes.

The PJ piece is the latest. I just mailed it off to the SoI competition. It has a marriage of the freedom i get from editorial illustration with the "figure in environment" that i learned from gallery gigs.

You've been a long favourite of mine and even more so when i started oil painting my illustrations. You lose a point for trying to steal my name though.

Do you mind if I e-mail you for crits and questions?

    cheers

    New oil painted illustrations

    Long time no post.

I've moved to New York and I'm bulking up the portfolio. It's amazing the talented artists one gets to meet in person living here. I look forward to showcasing my work and an active member of CA.

    Cheers!
