    comic book anthology

My painting for this venture is not indicative of the anthology but... well... I just wanted to show it. Most of the book will be sequential works and some fantastic works at that. I will be getting a list of contributors and their web sites soon so check back for more info and possibly some sneak peaks at what you will be able to find in this compilation of artists and stories.

Originally I was to make a collaborative piece with another artist, Leong Wan Kok http://1000tentacles.com, but I was a bit behind and dropped the ball so we both decided it would be easier to do individual pieces. Kok's paintings are some wild and wonderful things.

Great piece Jon! It's a bummer that the collaboration didn't work out, it would have been crazy. On it's own the piece still is all sorts of awesomeness. May I suggest kicking back the purple robot right behind the main one. The similar value and shapes confused me a little at first. take care,

Jon your work always leaves me in awe! Nice work and I cant wait to see the anthology. Your current book, Revolution, always sits next to me in my studio and is a constant source of inspiration.

Dude the colors are stunning and its one of those peices that make you ask
"And then what happens?" which for me is the sign of a brilliant piece.
Lo, there do I see my father.
Lo, there do I see my mother, my sisters and my brothers.
Lo, there do I see the line of my people back to the beginning.
Lo, they do call to me.
They bid me take my place on Asgard.
    In the halls of Valhalla,
where the brave may live forever

Call0ps, thanks I love pictures that seem to have a history.

Fvallejo, yea you're right about the purple robot, I had all kinds of trouble with him, push him back, pull him forward, put in shadow, stick him in the light. I just could not get it right. thanks for the advice.

MarkWinters, ah! but you are wrong about the colab with Coro not working out, in fact the best parts of that painting were where he fixed my mistakes. that's my kind of colab.

Craig D, thanks, I did paint my best when I was taller and thinner

batmankm, you say the nicest things.

Philip JP, cool! that is exactly what I want my illustrations to do. thanks for saying it works for you.

Jason Manley, Mr. Manley, it is always my guilty pleasure to post on concept art. thanks for the cool place to see and be seen. Hey, I tried to surprise you a few weeks back. stopped into the Massive Black studio to say hi but found you were away in Asia some where and Coro was away in Florida. I sniffed, my shoulders sagged and I went on my lonely way. well actually I got to say hi to Wes and Jason and many others but they were hard at work so I let them be.

Elwell, I had to go look up my art definition all over again, but yeah, now that I have google it, yeah, that's right! (said like someone who is trying to cover up his very apparent ignorance on the subject). I always ask this but I will do it again, lets see some paintings! I know you have tons to show but you selfishly keep them to yourself.

PhilHolland, Phil! how goes it my friend? thanks for checking in.

Hey Jon very cool! I love the colors, really reminds me of the Concept art for Robots the movie, but with a Jon Foster Flare.
We really missed you and Melissa at Race brook Lodge this year. I was bummed you couldn't make it out. We had a Bon Fire, and ate Somores and hot dogs all night. Maybe next year you will be able to make it.
Take Care Jon, and I hope to see you soon.
