Thanks Jnorish. Gestures are always fun and challenging to do. I personally have a hard time to nail them down the way I wanted. Just gotta keep going and going and going.
Some day I will get lucky.

nice concepts. I'm guessing you used some battle chaser's as reference and morphed it into something more original. No offence intended, for it's good to get inspired.

I like the direct use of lines on the bodies. I'm pretty fond of drawing in such a way myself.

    Keep it up.

Yeah, I am a big Joe Mad fan myself...
Those four pencil sketches on the first post are influence big time by his design.

It's all good. Often I would find my influence in many of my fav comic book artists like Campbell, Bachalo, Huges...

My fav line work that I really admire most is Mucha. He is the master of all the clean line. Love his stuff.

    Thanks:chug:

hey man. good stuff. the figures and gestures are your nicest work. the ball point figures rock. i also really like the dwarf. nice design. as far as teh rest goes, the line work is really nice but it seems too much like Joe Mad for me. i would try to push your own personal style. keep it up and ill check often.

i agree with everythin meta said. i do like how your last pic started moving away from the joe mad style. i think your color work is difficult to look at. i would suggest using a combination of the airbrush tool and the paintbrush to produce your pictures. not much left to critique but i ll check back when you update again.

good update. as for the first, i think that this is a better personal style. i was going to comment on the anatomy but when u said they were older i figured that that was why is wasnt as on point as your gestures. so i know your anatomy is better than that.
the third pic is solid man, i dont really have any crits about it. i think the lines are nice and the design is cool. maybe some pencil rendering or some paints would spark your interest in it again.
i think your frustration in the fourth one lies in your ability to manipulate the program. the underlying drawing is fine but u should keep painting. eventually you will learn to manage the colors and tools so that you get the right effect.
the next one we see the return of the joe mad style. its all good if that is what you want to do. the painting job is nice but she is a little stiff. i agree that the composition could be better. but i do like the rendering although i think it displays a mood that doesnt work for that piece.
the last one had some neat things going on in it. the design is very art noveau. it reminds me of mucha which is a good things, and the painting style compliments it i think. the only problems i have with the figure is that her sshoulders are kinda broad and her open mouth freaks me out. other than that i would say that you have something to work with.
realize that these crits are said only with the intention of helping you out. they are the kind of crits that i always long for. i think you have mad talent as i think your gestures rock ass. keep drawing and i will look.

These are some nice sketches. I like your quick gestures the most.

    Gestures are so beautiful:flower:

OneBigCelt: Thanks Man! I try... And I will try to color it sometime soon.

Robolus: I will finish it, but I don't know if it will be awesome though.

I.was.ink: thanks, You are so nice. People often call me names ( like rookie beeyach!) here at work, and tell me that I suck and all that. They are mean.

Im really liking those life drawings Xia,specially the quick gestural studys...
force yourself to draw looser when doing them, common mistake is to be to carefull when doing quick drawings, using the side of the pencil/charcoal is perfect for 30 sec-1 min poses.

that last one reminds me to much of Garrison ;P

Yo! Rusty! Thanks for the tip! You are right. I will try to loosen up more. That's one of my BIGGEST problem. I am a control freak when it comes to line.
BTW: I am a fan of your stuff, they are great! Very inspiring! :chug:

Your gesture drawings are nice....I only wish I'd see a little more graphite at times, You can push it with a smuge tool for volume when needed. The red colored pencil is such a tight tool for fig drawing. It looks like your using painter in a life drawing session.

Must be a laptop? Suddenly you go from line to full volume with color. Takes a little practice. Try starting off with your ground value more neutral. Pick a view with stronger shadows and work out your light values. Keep it low res for fast tablet response. Unless your using a mouse in which case leave it at home. Keep up the good work!

Scumble Fish: First of all, Thanks I haven't used graphite or chacoal in life drawing in the past year because I was always smearing and making unnecessary stuff onto the image. I was always focusing on making clean line (So I force myself to use just Pen, Color Pencil, and China Marker or Market). But now, I guess I could switch back to graphite or chacoal again as you suggested. I, too, want to know what they would turn out to be. Hopefully, it will not suck.
And Yep, you are right, Painter8. Just start to focus on painting for real. (It pretty convenience for me at the time, and cheaper than real painting. When I get better and richer, I would go full launch real oil and canvast.) I totally agree with you on that feedback on the painting. I need more contrast and more define value all that.
Your feedback is pretty valuable, keep posting.

Your color stuffs is pretty damn good, gotta give me some more tip.

    Thanks:chug:

Endragon: Holy Crap! Thanks I took a peak at your stuff, you are too getting better. Keep it up!

Iiori: Hee hee, Thanks :electric: I still havn't start coloring that girl you were talking about (soon I hope, hopefully it will come out like I want.)
Anyway, to answer your question (It's a long story) ...I start being serious about it three or four years ago (Since I got into College). Then I was hired as a 2D character animator for Video Game. (But I was the least expirience one that the time) so I have to be even more serious about getting gesture and figure down quick (Well, they are still kinda suck.) As for going to life drawing seriously is probably about two to three years. I usually go about twice session per week (it's also depend how busy I am at the time being too.)
*I feel like a job interview or something (just kidding).*
Anyway, now I am a 3D artist for another Video Game company (Concept Art wanna be) so I have to learn and studie traditional and digital painting more.
Hopefully, it will work out. Some day. :chug:
LIFE DRAWing is good for you.

YukonChum: Thanks dude! Why do you use "kenchan", I like "YokunChum" better.

AC_osorio: Thanks man! Your stuff is coming along great too.
