    That's some ass kickin' demon goodness.

    BUT, I think your gesture drawings on #625 are super awesome!!

    I'm going to have to do tons more of those once this semester of school is over.

    On this newest, the demon's head looks slightly off versus the angle that the angel is coming from. Perhaps it's just a perspective thing.
    Where's the original sketch by the way, I'd like to see where you're getting your idea from

    Anyway... just quick stuff to throw at you, gotta get back to school work!

    Leviathus: Thanks much!

    Mat Kaminski: Thank you Matt! I messed with the demon some and hopefully it looks better. The very first thumbnail can be found here: http://cghub.com/forum/attachment.ph...1&d=1271188374

    The deadline for this activity is tomorrow and I sure as heck cannot finish it. This piece is in its "colored rough" state. Hopefully I'll have time to do a painting pass over it.

    hey dude, loving the new stuff, ESPECIALLY those life digi-paints...those are AWESOME!!!! as for crits, sometimes your figures seem really off balance (like in these last two finished pieces). the elf-girl swinging the sword, and the angel with the sword seem to be in positions where they would fall over doing what they are doing. i'll do a paintover when i get a shot. anyway, keep up the great works dude, and congrats on that new job, i know it's been a long time since i've said anything here. take care; yaaaAAAAAAAAAY for new words!!!!

    purb36: hey! Long time no see PO's will be much appreciated! Thanks a lot for the crits. I need a lot of practice doing figures in motion... The life drawing helps when I want to draw a person standing up. Not so sure about person in the middle of a motion though. A real-life pause button would be pretty sweet, haha.

    =====

    Calling this done. Have to leave really early tomorrow and I should really sleep. Having a lot of fun doing this piece and am a bit sad to put it down, but that's my fault for being last-minute, haha.

    The CHOW topic sounds fun this week... gonna try to do it! Inspired by the wonderfully hilarious men's magazine covers like this one. Lunch sketch and early wip, needing face and figure studies.

    Good stuff dude, the pirate dirigible is pretty slick. I'd be careful of the feet positions on some of those character designs. Some clean up lines in a darker pencil could help define some of the form as well too. Keep it up though, your colors are getting tasty.

    metal fingers: thanks ever so much!

    Finished the chow entry - I think I missed the deadline though, oh well Had fun and learned stuff, which is all that matters. There are some awesome entries this round. Looking at them, I think I rushed into painting way too early again. Gotta remember that solid sketch >> rendering.

    Looking good nightblue. Colors are definitely getting better. Be careful with the anatomy. The muscles in the arms seems to be unnaturally placed. Or, it may be the values or both. I am not too sure about the hand in the Angel/Demon piece. You may want to take another look at that. Keep at it Nightblue. Definite improvement since Teamchow and you''ve been pretty productive. Later.

    One more study and some doodles from the most recent 2 sketch groups, topics being "Ravenous Peacekeepers" and "Samurai Chef" respectively, the latter one with a bonus sub-topic of a kangaroo.

    That Sergeant Dan cover is so great! All of Dan and the bat-things look 100% authentic pulp art to me!

    The only thing that I feel could stand a little tweaking is the dame. She immediately grabbed my attention and immediately bothered me. She's too bright, the colour/lighting seems wrong, and her pose doesn't fit the moment -- Instead of struggling and looking helpless (arms held behind her back, chest saucily thrust out), it seems like she's affecting a languidly dramatic gesticulation ("oh lord, whutevah shall ah do?"), and is more interested in what Dan is up to than in the creatures that're presently attacking her.

    The lighting from the muzzle flash, the ridiculous complexity of action, the stilted nature of the pose, the paint strokes, the overall composition, the design and actions of the bat-men, and the expression of the man-face... All these things are just marvelous! Well done!

    (...but tweak the babe)

    William b. Hand: thanks so much for the crits! I had more trouble with the girl than I anticipated, considering I draw girls much more than guys. I'll have to study the "damsel in distress" poses extensively.

    A couple of lunch doodles - a study and a DSG. Just got keikai brushes from a friend and they are really fun to use.

    did i remember to say "beautiful faces!"? cause they are.

    ps. regarding beelow's comment about the arm muscles, it's not their placement, but the perspective...the perspective and placement of the arm in total makes it come from further back in space than it should be. the arm itself looks really good, it's just where it comes from. anyway, fun stuff.

    Your pencil work above is super awesome :3

    It's weird how you get this soft / painterly look to all your colored works that looks nice. Must be the brushes I'm not sure...

    The problem that I can see with your facial studies is that you sometimes don't draw the eyes as the middle ground of the face, they seem to go too far upwards.

    Just a quick crit that I happened to notice.

    purb: Thanks much for the tips!

    Mat: I mostly use basic brushes. Lately, I've been messing with Kekai's brushes, using mostly a variation of the basic round brush with pressure to opacity. Master studies helped my colors a LOT! Speaking of, I should get back into it soon... Way too much starcraft lately.

    =============

    Been too lazy to scan things again... a piece of fan art of Shwann's Character for his contest, and a couple of digital sketches. Will get to scanning at some point...

    Hey NB,

    I havnt been here in a while but I like the new stuff. The column sketches remind me of my new 3D project Im working on. Ill send some sketches soon, time has been going way too fast lately.

    I want to jump on the face study band wagon also, but I have been doing the enviro thing and working on my perspective skills, still need more 3D pieces.

    I like your face studies keep it up, On the little girls face, were you using a square brush? Im sure you've seen his stuff, but reminds me how Chainsaw Art blocks in his faces, I want to learn how to do that better. BTW, what are the Kekai brushes?

    Well talk to you later.
