wow this is really helpful for a beginner like me. Thank you so much for this thread! Bumskee is so great!
Gave it a shot, 45 minutes or so.
Also, I'm new here, hello.
Thanks to TinyBird for the link to this thread, it's exactly what I needed.
About 4-5 hours of work I think. Need so much practice, but painting simpler objects definitely helps.
I am quite overwhelmed with all of this and have come to realize I need help. I want to be able to color my work in Photoshop and be able to have a painterly style. However, my colors, shadings, highlights, everything all come out dull and flat. I tried reading the thread from the beginning but I got lost somewhere. How do I get started and where do I go to figure out how to get better at painting? I have looked up tons and tons of tutorials but they don't seem to be leading me in the right direction. Only getting me more and more confused.
Spent about 30-60 mins on this.
As a complete beginner, I was surprised with the realism of the result
Also, my first post on these forums!
I've lurked for a while, this is my first post.
Found this thread and I was instantly compelled to give this a try! I definitely needed the practice, took about 3-4 hours..

My first post here. I did it all on one layer and only realized afterwards it would have been nice to see the progress, oh well

Okay....I am totally new to digital painting or you can say any painting. My first attempt but ready to learn and improve on.
Got inspiration from other artists here...but couldn't find an apple (my daughter ate the last one). Luckily there were some pears left in the fruit basket :-)

Love this thread, thank you for setting it up. I am also happy to see it still going. Good work as well everyone.
I found it really difficult getting started, and that made me get more frustrated which made it even more difficult to get started. But i brooke through the wall, and started placecing brush strokes, and alas, it got easier as i went on.
Bit of grey scale.
got my first Wacom couple of days ago and started painting. its harder than i thought
Apple no. 1
