    Here's an example that I'm doing now, painting in 1 hue to simplify things.
    This probably means that you're painting with too high a saturation to begin with. Use of saturation should be considered heavily and usually used sparingly, because it draws the eye.

    Panda- thx for the reply, not sure if I understand what you mean by longer and larger strokes(even tho it sounds so simple xD)

    But anyways here is round 2 got a tablet the other day and used a reference this time, here goes:
