ConceptArt.Org TRADITIONAL SCULPTURE main page gallery submissions and nominees

    Hey All,

ConceptArt.Org is currently working on it's new sculpture main page gallery section (we have seven spots left to fill!) and we are looking for nominees for the first positions opening up. You know the thumbnails atop conceptart.org? Yeah those galleries...we are building a traditional sculpture section to support this forum and promote the artists sharing and giving here in the community who are doing the best work. We believe the sculptors of this community also deserve the big spotlight that the major traffic of this site brings (averaging around 1.3 million international visits per month currently).

Here are the qualifications to consider.

    Sculpture main page candidates must:

    1. be exhibiting professional quality work here on conceptart.org.
    2. be helping others here on the site
    3. have have joined conceptart.org and been an active member for at least 30 days.
    4. be setting a great example for others in the 3D community.

One does not need to be working as a pro, however, pro quality work is a must.

Nominees should submit their works in the following manner.

Links to 2 CA threads which you have started with your works:

include 5-10 of your sculpture samples (jpegs) for consideration in this thread: UPLOADED images MUST HAVE YOUR NAME IN THE FILENAME. Thanks. To see an example of how the photographers are handling it properly, please take a look here: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=107075

Professional industry sculpters will be assisting in the judging as will the moderators here on the forums who, like santa, know if you've been bad or good...lol. Join us atop the boards!

And thanks for making the 3D forums such a success.

I went ahead and made a couple changes to this as well. Submissions may come from new members and we lowered the submission image total to five for the base per a suggestion from another 3d artist.

We look forward to the submissions. Surely some of you want to join smellybug atop the main page.

I'd like to be considered for inclusion in the Gallery, so here's my info. Thanks a lot!

Bio - Sam Greenwell has been working in the toy and prepaint statue industry for the past 10 years. He has worked with clients such as Dark Horse Comics, DC Direct, Toybiz and Hasbro. The real fun of course is in the original designs, which he tries harder and harder to find time for.

Thanks Smellybug! One time I don't look to make sure I didn't screw a post up, and I screw a post up! They may be a little easier to view now.

Well, I'm no acornboy or smellybug, but I'll throw my hat in the ring nonetheless.

Bio - Troy McDevitt enjoys talking about himself in the third person. Since 2004, he has somehow
been able to support his wife and children by sculpting custom wedding cake toppers that look
like the bride and groom, of which, he's completed over one-hundred. His real passion, however,
lies in the fantasy/comic/sci-fi statue world which he has recently been making a serious effort
to join. Please join me, Troy McDevitt, in wishing him luck.

Mods please note: I've continued to add new work to one single thread, so I don't actually
have two links (it does, however, have almost 60,000 views). Hopefully that doesn't disqualify me.

I'd like to put myself forward too. I'd be honored to be considered with other such fine company.

Bio: In July 2005, I took my first steps into the world of sculpting. Since then, with every new piece I work on I feel myself grow and become stronger. Sculpting has had a positive effect on the quality of my work in other areas, such as my life drawing and modeling. It has also made me more aware of just how much art means to me; so much so that I am currently looking to further my education in art. My time in a 2 year animation program, which I completed in 2006, would not have been the same if it hadn't been for my discovery of my passion for sculpting. I learn from watching and studying how others work (there are so many amazing people out there), and from just doing it and seeing what happens. Sculpting will be part of my life from now on, whether it be something I do in my spare time or maybe someday as a career.
