I like it man. The portrait up top is my favorite. I really like the sense you seem to have for the planes of the head. It makes your drawings look really 3 dimensional.

As usual your gestures are kicking serious ass. Lots of attention to planes and creating figures that read as a unit. I'm noticing things in your renderings that I neglected.

Strangely your longer full-figure drawings feel less unified, and although there is great attention to the shadow systems, picking up low key lights/reflects, overall I feel they need a bit more construction/flow, in contrast to the gestures where the figure is instantly blocked in.

One trick to possibly make more convincing hands would be to draw the shadows between the fingers rather than the fingers themselves. There are a few moments where you've defined the hands with line and they don't feel convincing.

These are just observations and suggestions, hopefully they're helpful.

Keep pushing, and I'll see you next week!

    _Danny

very true, I like doing quick sketches and gestures but then when it comes down to doing a longer move involved piece I run into problems and I'm still learning how to fix em' up. I like your idea of drawing the light and shadow rather than the actual fingers.

    Ape:
Your god character recalls some of the characteristics of Francis Bacon's monsters, mostly the two prominent mouths I suppose. Your ideation phase is becoming more sophisticated and I think, working to your benefit. Keep up the hard work.
Also, you should look into the VisComm classes at ACC next semester if you haven't already. I'm going to try getting into a few.

M0rs MMMmmmmm, Bacon! Hah, well thanks for the complement I love that artist. Yeah, I can see what you mean about the figures with gaping maws kinda like Francis Bacon's monsters. Well, on this next post I'm stretching my ideation even further

Idea for a Boss, the Deadly Sinner;Pride. It proudly displays it's war banners and adorned feathers into battle as well as impaling the non-believers with it's spikey crosses. Which also act as stilts when his wings get tired of carrying the crosses through the trudging of corpses. Primariily a caster and minor ranged unit

That last post is looking seriously cool. Bringing composition and design into your sketches makes them look so much more finished than just a page in a sketchbook. I think that your drawing has gotten much better from the stuff on the first page as well. Keep on truckin'

That looks fucking awesome. So, Bryan. When I went to see Dark Knight on Thursday night I went into Amy's down by Westgate beforehand and was astonished to see your work up! That's great!
You've motivated me to work on my deadly sin boss now.
    See you later,

    Mors

M0rsDude, the Dark Knight was fantastic! I attended the Friday night showing. I'm really psyched that you enjoy my interpretation of the deadly sin;Pride. Hah, that's cool that you recognized my pieces hanging in Amy's. I get to keep them up for a month, so far I've sold one piece=D

TMBrittonThank ya! I'm indeed trying to add a finishing quality to the pencil drawings.

hey, That deadly sin thing is rad. Overall i think you need to study proportions more. Your portraits and figures seem a little inconsistant proportion wise. either the face is too long or the fore top of the head to large. last portrait was looking better tho. your life drawings have some nice confident lines. keep it up

arghmisfitThanks for stopping by! I'm really delighted that you like the first sin of the group. You are right, my proportions need some more looking into. I will keep that in mind next time I go to the figure drawing session.

Second Boss for the bunch, as you can see he is a tank The actual sin lives inside of this guy, in that stomach maw thingy he resides in there nice and safe and then comes out to feed on the fresh kill.

    Kidape;

Not sure if your had the chance of taking drawing courses with Matt Stavrowsky at ACC.
He will get you motivated and headed in the right direction.
Also his father work is amazing:
    http://olegart.squarespace.com/displ...alleryId=58403

You've got good concept work, but theres room for improvement in the figure dept.
Theres a nice steady flow of improvement in your sketches and the life drawing course will probably fill those gaps.

I like the good rhythm these have:

Slechtvalk Hehe, I've actually taken Drawing for Animation with him. Loved the class and learned quite a bit. If you ever run into him, tell him Brian said hi=D
I was working on my next sin, Lust, and wanted her to have a robotic feel. A mech addition to her, but I haven't dipped into industrial designs yet so I figured the best way was to design some thumbnails:

Dude, you keep getting better and better. A bit about the design of the sorceress piece though, by placing the logo away from the figure and having more contrast there than in the drawing you pull the eye away from your character. The only pure white is in the logo and my eye is drawn to the "o" in cold. But the design in the character is cool and I really like the self portrait. And the industrial thumbnails further up on the page.

tmbrittonThanks Tom! Ah yeah I see what you mean about the eye being pulled away from the character and to the text. Next design I'll def keep that in mind.
